Future Suggestions

These are serious suggestions that I want 343 to consider, not just fans to read! So if someone would be so kind as to give me some way of contacting 343 that they will ACTUALLY READ then thank you!

As a general rule I don’t think they take specific suggestions, because there would be too many to go through and there would be the question of who gets credit for every little thing that remotely resembles anything suggested. But here’s my opinions on your suggestions, for what they’re worth.

The removal of dual wielding in Halo was due to it changing the dynamic of the game, resulting in players not using grenades, and producing issues such as the “noob combo” which was an overcharged Plasma Pistol shot with one hand, and a swift headshot with the Magnum in the other hand, resulting in nearly instant kills with what should be side-arms. As such I don’t expect it to return, but I wouldn’t be bothered by it, so long as the weapon combinations were balanced.

Your suggestion for player-character races is interesting, and would definitely be cool for machinimas. However, it strikes me as a lot more RPG than FPS, which would make for a great side game (like Halo Wars) but not one of the core numbered games. That said I would be ecstatic for a Fallout 4-style Halo RPG.

Game modes, I’d be all for place-able AI in forge, which then plays out a bit like Warzone. The application of that would be tricky though, as the pathfinding for them would likely be very difficult to do well.

I want the aesthetic armor options and skins out of the REQ system, them instead being earned through gameplay by beating levels at certain difficulties and earning Achievements. That way the REQ cards would be just the weapons and vehicles.

I’m not a fan of the customization HUD. I think it would take too much effort and time for the developers and wouldn’t be proportionately appreciated by the fan-base.

Halo 4 and 5 didn’t handle their lore as well as I think they could have under different circumstances, but I think on the whole they are lore friendly, and the details which don’t seem to make sense on the surface actually fit with a more layered interpretation of the lore gleaned from the whole variety of sources, including the novels.

I agree with you that if they could incorporate split-screne at a lower-resolution, while keeping the higher resolution when playing single-screen, that would be a good compromise.

My reply would have to be:

I know they don’t take direct suggestions. I just wrote it kind of as a spur of the moment thing. Besides, I made this post on Xbox feedback back in November, and just copy and pasted it onto the forums.

Dual-wielding was one of the things that made Halo 2 and 3 legendary. Without those aspects, among other features such as playable Elites, Halo would not be as renowned for newcomer appeal, and newcomer appeal was how they sold Halo 2 and 3! I do remember the noob combo from Halo 3 and the MCC, and I do understand your concern for balanced multiplayer, but that’s where the competitive MP comes in! Competitive will have no dual-wielding as I said in the document, but for a more casual experience the game devs would have to work harder on weapon combos, and possibly nerfing certain ones. But I do think, over all, dual-wielding would be a popular, and working mechanic, at least for the most part.

Player races were more of a concept idea though. The idea of a Fallout style Halo RPG is awesome but also impossible, because the story would be too much to juggle, and wouldn’t make sense with the three different races, and a Halo open world with a Bethesda style wouldn’t be very accurate to the actual story of Halo without being HUMONGOUS, which you might have to sacrifice FPS and graphics for. Oh yea… and it would take years to make… A lot of people have been talking about the idea of a Covenant Ops game, which would work very well with my playable Elites idea… obviously.

The process of making custom AI would not be too difficult at all! I used to mod Minecraft all the time before I played Halo, and I found that i could do some amazing things with the Custom NPCs mod. The mod isn’t so complex that someone just wanting to have a little fun in forge couldn’t figure it out (if it was in Halo I mean), but also if you wanted to make your own custom level you could! It is just that detailed!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VwK7kcqS8s Just recreate something like that in Halo! It pretty much just uses in game behaviour presets and textures for enemies and mobs (minecraft).

I do have a soft spot for the REQ system because I enjoy RNG sometimes, but If cosmetics were out of the REQ system I would never open a REQ pack ever again in my life…

I am pro-armor-buying though, as long as it is only rare or less.

I can understand your feelings about the HUD customization. Just nitpicking.

About the lore…

The Bungie Trilogy didn’t break your brain with stuff you quote: “Already should have known.” Like what if you never played Spartan Ops! You have no clue who Jul Mdama is! And if you’re a newcomer and haven’t played ODST or seen Nightfall for Buck and Locke. And people will wonder why Master Chief is so cool if they’ve never played another Halo game before, because he is only in TWO MISSIONS! I’m not saying they aren’t lore friendly, I’m saying they’re somewhat TOO lore friendly, when it comes to stuff from comics and books no one but you and I have read!

With that said…

Thank you! Thanks a lot for the constructive criticism! I need some of that sometimes!
