Future Presentational Improvements

Halo 5 looks like one of the best-looking halo games, not just in terms of basic visuals, but in every aspect of the presentation. 343 should definitely be proud of themselves, but of course there are always more things that can be touched up or made to feel new and fresh. In this topic I think it would be neat to see what kinds of presentational things people would like to see improved or added in future halo games.

For me personally, I’m most interested in seeing spartan movement made to look more impossible: taking inspiration from the way the books describe how spartans move. This doesn’t mean that I want the gravity or movement speed to be changed, just for the animations to seem like “this is a person moving in a way they could not if they weren’t enhanced”.

For example, instead of feet sliding on the floor after a sudden change in direction, for the animation of the walk cycle to actually represent the spartan immediately shifting their momentum, making the motion look agile rather than slippery. Or for jumping, for the amount of power necessary to propel oneself that high in the air to feel evident in the animation, conveyed through a more aggressive thrust from the legs and perhaps a larger noise from the ground that the spartan’s just pushed off from.

These are the kinds of details that fascinate me, and Halo 5 has gone a great deal of a way towards improving or adding things like this. It’s this kind of thing that makes the game feel like it’s a more credible and real world, and I always love seeing the new ways developers make things feel more organic while still making gameplay that runs on very strict and mathematical timing and function.
