With my favorite Sangheili Jul 'Mdama dead, and the decisive defeat of the Covenant at Sunaion, what’s next if at all for the Covenant? Will Sali Nyon take control and try to revive it? Will the Banished take their place? Are there enough Covie revival factions out there to continue the legacy of the Covenant or are they just about dead? I worry we won’t have Covie enemies to fight in a few games time, which would be awful. I honestly had thought the Covenant would grow post Halo 4, due to the return of the Didact. That former believers all over the Galaxy would have their faith renewed at the appearance of an actual Forerunner and his admitted hatred of humanity. Real veterans of the Covenant would be in awe over that and think maybe the Covenant was onto something, that maybe the Halos didnt bring salvation but the Mantle could? Anywho, what do you humans think?

Fairly certain there’s enough remnant/splinter factions to go around. We still have:
-Servants of the Abiding Truth/Neru Pe 'Odosima
-Keepers of the One Freedom
-The Banished
-Sali 'Nyon’s remnant
-Vata 'Gajat’s remnant
-Luro Taralumee’s remnant
And those are just the fairly large ones. There’s probably quite a handful of smaller Jiralhanae- or Sangheili-led factions.
Wasn’t luro taralumee the Elite from The Package? What faction does he have?
Never mind, I looked him up.
I hope there is always a covanant it wouldnt be Halo without them.
I actually hope the Covenant gets out numbered by new factions/ideologies. Such a broken cause now. I don’t like the idea people have of “Halo won’t be Halo without the Covenant”… makes them sound just as brainwashed as the Elites. There’s so much more Halo can offer than that name.
The Banished seem like the logical choice to replace the Covenant. There are other factions but they seem to be the biggest threat currently.

This seems likely. There’s a conversation in Thel’s camp where a Sangheili is talking about how Nyon is a better leader than the Arbiter, and that the Arbiter is “just another despot.” So there’s dissent present already.

I agree. He made off with a good amount of troops and ships at the Absolute Record and unlike Jul he was a true believer. That may be more dangerous.
Jul’s Covenant was the largest by far, and nearly all of their forces were wiped out between Kamchatka, the destruction of Argent Moon, and the battle of Sunaion. Sali 'Nyon will meet his end soon enough. Even the Banished aren’t that powerful, they only have a single CAS carrier, as far as we’ve seen.
Halo could do without an organization called the Covenant. The aliens would still exist, be apart of different factions and stuff, but wouldn’t be the Covenant with Covenant ideals.
I think the Covenant will be replaced by the Banished just like Rachel said. The fact that Arbiter completely exposed their beliefs to be lies made the Covenant crumble. Even though the Banished may not be as big in size, they completely outnumber them based on how intelligent they are. And I totally agree, there is much more to Halo than the Covenant.

I agree with you but with regards to the bolded part, I fear 343 will always have to consider this group (and there are a lot of them) and we may never reach the goal of a 100% Covenant-free game for that reason alone if nothing else… the actual faction may disappear (they already have) but I think the member races will likely always be Halo antagonists one way or the other just because people will say that. “It’s not Halo if I can’t headshot me some Grunts.”
