I have posted in several threads with these remarks but I will put this out there once again. This is a revised version of an older post I constructed.
Halo is evolving and with that things change with adding new features and or changing existing ones. Let Halo 4 be the start of A NEW series and do not compare it to the older games. You should still be able to play classic game modes in the many playlists or older games. A new game deserves to be judged on how it plays rather than its name association.
My whole point is people are judgeing a game before it is out and comparing it to a series/trilogy that has ended. Halo 4 is the start of a NEW series in the Halo universe. The game WILL be different and that is not a bad thing. If I wanted the same game I would have stopped buying Halo games after Halo CE. I still play Halo CE regularly but I do NOT want every Halo game to be a carbon copy of it in fact I want all the Halo games to be different. I want the universe to expand and change not remain still and to spoil by becoming stagnant.
We should be thankful for that we were shown anything this indepth at this time. In the Flood forum back in the old home Bungie.net we were talking about what might be shown that day and none of us suspected this. We all thought maybe some info and screen shots of the enviroment or concept art. What we were shown was gameplay, information based on some equipment, the new look, some multiplayer and story elements,as well as a look at some multiplayer maps ect… We were given so much in terms of information that we can discuss and the speculate on. We have been given a small sample and glimpse of Halo 4. We will get more information as launch gets closer.
I would hope that all of you take into consideration these aspects of this game and Halo in general. Halo is changing and there are still plenty of the old nostalgia but we shouldn’t be so quick to condemn the game with no hands on game testing yet. One reason Halo Reach disapointed many is that they compared it to the previous Halo games and wanted it to be so much like them rather then taking the game and judging it for what it was if it were a stand alone with Halo cut from its title. The game as a shooter is great compared to many and we as a community judged it to harshly because of its previous installments.
Halo Reach was judged in a way that it would not have been if it just had removed Halo from its title. The game itself as a shooter is fine along with its story but a section of the community dislike its changes from the normal Halo gameplay and set up.
Lets not do the same with Halo 4 ,lets give it the chance it deserves.
If 343 weren’t interested in feedback, and discussion, there wouldn’t be a H4 Forum.
Also, when you consider that there won’t be a beta, and release is at most 8.5 months away, I think it’s essential that we provide them with as much feedback as possible.
Hopefully they will provide us with some more details soon.
> Rather, wait for more solid info and judge. Why would you buy a game and THEN judge? That is just illogical consumerism.
True more information is needed hands on game time is best. If we can get a BETA or renting and playing Demos of the game for the skeptical shopper and player that would be nice. The best way to tell if you like a game or not is to play and you don’t always have to buy it to figure this out. I have been hearing that there will be no BETA is saddening but it just leaves more room to rent the game or play a friends instead before investing yourself.

This is pretty much my thought process on the topic. We are here providing feedback. It might seem like whining, complaining, whatever but at least its something for 343 to look at. They get the idea of what we want and hopefully they’ll come up with solutions instead of just ignoring it.

But then again, isn’t it good to sometimes ignore the community who just consistently complain because they want the game to be exactly the same. If the game is being judged by the title, then the series will not advance and therefore removing the purpose of buying the new game. MW3 is a good example, but I won’t go into much more detail. I don’t want Halo to fall down its root.
It’s also a new company that want to put new ideas in. It’s near impossible to judge a game that hasn’t come out and 20 seconds of gameplay has been shown. Surely it would be better to wait and see how the game plays and wait for more content to be shown?
Although I do understand that you want them to solve the issues the community are complaining about, the main issue is you run out of aspects that are actually new to the game. This could be why they released content when they are in the final stages of development, i.e. bug fixing, final details and texturing, final parts of the soundtrack, etc. so that people don’t just want to have all the content that cost money and time to be put in to be removed.
I think they did listen to the community on a lot of issues and have implemented a lot of what they wanted, but it’s not too obvious at the moment. Once again, let’s just wait and see for the game to come out. Bearing in mind that you can just return it if you don’t like it and you can find some fairly decent and accurate reviews out there about games means that deciding on whether you like the game or not is quite easy.
