Future of Halo MP: Arena or Class based?

Or split them into two playlist sections?

Split them

Split them, and I’ll mostly play arena.

I want to play a mix of them so I can play Arena and Infinity on one disc

I think the Xbone’s disc is big enough. But I want only classic and only infinity. I don’t want any kind of hybrid in classic playlists ONLY classic.

I meant only classic and only infinity, but that’d be an interesting 3rd option, it seems that’s what Legendary Slayer is

Except for the part that Halo has never been class based; loadouts only give you the same weapon variety of prior games off spawn. Armor abilities and armor mods also do not promote teamwork in the style of a class based game. For a true class based game, Loadouts would be set according to roles in combat, and absolutely no customization could occur, as doing so would detract from the primary role of that loadout.

In an ideal world, I would say split them and make everyone happy.

In the real world, there is seemingly no perfect way to split them and make everyone happy.
So I would say continue with the arena based identity that Halo is best known for.

I don’t think t will be split evenly if they go both of these routes. They will probably continue along with the loadouts and have one arena based playlist.

Split them into two different playlist categories, and design the maps to accommodate BOTH Infinity and Classic gameplay.

split

H4’s current system isn’t class based.

Not at least class based in the sense of other shooters. There are still weapons to be picked up from the map and you are restricted from using the entire weapon sandbox in your loadouts.

That in essence, makes it a mix between class and arena.

And I currently don’t mind the current hybrid system.

I’d rather had a split to make the people of current and classic generations satisfied.

Off topic: I am disappointed to see the people who voted for just classic or just current gen. You do realize you are ignoring and throwing aside the fans who prefer the other game style than you, right?

I want the next Halo to be an Arena shooter again. Hell, I’d even go for something entirely new. Anything but a class based shooter.

The only thing I would want to see Loadouts/Classes used in Halo 5 for would be Invasion, Firefight/SpOps, and something like Reach where the Loadouts are set. Halo 4 has gone way too far down the path that Reach took, and what Reach did should’ve been the limit for how far Halo goes to include Loadouts.

Id say have Classic as the base for the Ranked game types and use Infinity settings as the base for Social settings.

As much as it sucks, the divide has to exist because as we’ve seen, you cant put hyper competitive players into a social environment and still promote a positive game experience for all.

The mixed option caters to both sides of the fence.

That said though, I hope Infinity settings become tweaked to be more based on Arena style game play so some of the basis of equal starts is still there, just distorted.

You would have to split them. Sadly, as far as the AAA market goes, the Arena Shooter is dead. Class-based is what the market wants, and its the best way to sell shooters.

My vote is for Arena,

To keep everyone happy, you need both. See below.

You need to have 2 Main Playlist, which are then split into Ranked and Social Playlist.

Ie:
Classic
Ranked
Social
Infinity
Ranked
Social

This would allow everyone to enjoy the Halo they want to play.

Classic would be an evolved version of Halo 3.

Infinity would be an evolved version of Halo 4.
Maybe an option for no Ordnance as well for the REACH lovers.

Each of course would have any new vehicles and weapons that have been created for the new Halo game.

The Sandbox would be the same for both. Only real changes are:
Classic:
• No Loadouts
No AA (Equipment Only)
No Ordnance
No Perks
Sprint (TBA)
Weapons Spawn on Map

Infinity:
• Loadouts
AA
Ordnance
Perks
Sprint

That is not true,

Halo REACH would had sold the same amount if it stayed with the Arena style, The population would had stayed much higher for longer like Halo 3.

We don’t want copies of BF and COD.

Halo was unique that it was still an Arena Shooter. The player population had dropped because it is no longer an Arena Shooter and just another FPS with loadouts.

Unfortunately REACH has split the community and players who have only played REACH and Halo 4, would probably not like an Arena Shooter (Halo 2/3)and is why you need to have both options.

I say split the playlists between ranked and social, with ranked being classic and social having Infinity settings. CSR should only be implemented in ranked playlists because it wouldn’t make sense to have them in social.
