Future of Halo. (Direct Community Feedback Thread)

Hello,

I wanted to give feedback and support to Halo and its future. Like most fans, we don’t want to see the game die out and be disappointing. Been playing Halo since Xbox and Halo: CE came out, and absolutely love the throwback in Halo MCC PC. In my opinion, Halo 3 was probably the most successful Halo ever made. So many things to do, the armor was well made, and you really had to do your best to acquire it. And once you did, it felt amazing. Player made minigame lobbies were also the best, along with just basic online slayer, CTF, and so on. You’d look at your friends list and there would be one guy playing COD: MW2, and the other 30-40 people were on Halo 3. I’m sure Microsoft would love to see it back at that point, as would all the franchise fans (hardcore or modest).

Something to address would be the enemies. Campaign makes up half the reason play Halo in the first place. We love to kick alien -Yoink- as Master Chief and beat the covenant to a pulp. Something I would like to see back in the game would be the Flood. The overwhelming, freaky looking, zombie like alien could affect and transform any living creature in an instant and become even more challenging. Halo has always been a challenging game that you run through all arcade like and try to survive the levels, especially on Legendary. In Halo 4, it did remain challenging at times, yes, but I feel like in Halo 4 and 5, the Promethean mechanics get old. Like unloading a clip until they open up and then shoot that area. After you do it so many times, you get bored and would rather play another game…and so you do. Multiplayer was okay, but multiplayer, as I said earlier, is on 50% of the game. The amazing Campaign is the other half we want too. Plus, I thought the oracles and sentinels were the likely guardians as well as Prometheans. I kinda miss them too, in an annoying sort of way. Sure you could add more variations in enemies. Sometimes, the simplicity of Covenant, Flood, Sentinals/Guardians, is all you need.

So far, my opinion on Halo MCC PC is looking pretty good. Sure it has a few bugs here and there, but things never start off perfect ever anyway. Definitely looking forward to Halo 2, 3, 4, and ODST. Something I know my friends are looking for, as mentioned earlier, Halo 3 coming out and Minigame Lobbies again, Hayabusa, Security, and Scout armor sets. Something I will input IMO, maybe consider going back through the old Halo 3 files and find the old minigames and gametypes, then possibly make it a legit game type lobby you can select and join with randoms. Bull, Mexican Bull, Jenga, Fat Kid, Skycastle, Ghostbusters, Preditor, Duck Hunt, etc. It was always, “you have to know someone” to get in those lobbies back in the day. Plus if you run into some issues with some of the names because of trademarks, obviously rename them. Just thinking of ways where you don’t have to wait for a certain person to get on. You can just jump into matchmaking when you get home from work and play those game types. Maybe even do a voting system for game types so that the lobby can choose between duck hunt, jenga, and bull. Just throwing ideas out there.

This is just me, a grain of sand, giving my opinion and feedback. I love Halo MCC so far, and would like to thank you all for the hard work you have all done to make this all happen. If anyone else in the community agrees or disagrees with anything said, by all means, comment your own opinion. Maybe it will help Microsoft bring back nostalgic Halo days and maybe even create even more in the future with future releases in MCC, Infinite, and maybe more.

Thanks for reading.

Good post!

I too, remember the days when my friends list was filled with people either playing CoD 4 or Halo 3. Unfortunately, that was just as the CoD machine was ramping itself up, so with the yearly drops, a lot of people began shifting over to CoD instead of waiting for the next Halo title, coming back only when there were updates or DLC drops.

I liked the variety of Halo 4 campaign, but would also be fascinated to see a game where you fight Covenant, Prometheans, and Flood. Maybe with the events of Halo Wars 2, we’ll see the possibility of that soon.

I must say there was nothing quite like the launch of Halo 3 for me, list completely full, queues outside of the game stores, it was simply amazing and something I’ll never forget. I agree that a file sharing system like Halo 3’s would be awesome, as-well what about a playlist that uses the most popular community Maps/Gametypes?

I’ll also add some forge ideas. Halo 3 Forge (along with all others) should have the ability to run blocks through eachother, like reach does. Also have the ability in all forges to make blocks disappear on a timer, so the infected may be released from their cage when ready. I know you can make block appear after a time limit, but disappearing allows open doors and allows a variety of creative game types. Game types microsoft may want to adopt in their playlist. Like Grifball and Fiesta were.

This isn’t a support issue.
