Future of Halo 5

As we draw near you the hour of the Warzone Firefight release, the last announced free DLC support from 343, you’ve got to wonder what’s next? What I really hope they don’t do, is end support right now. The game is at the strongest it’s been since it released.

I know, at the very least, that they will continue to support it with updates to playlists and matchmaking tuning, etc. Personally, I think that the community is going to be pretty strong after this update (with a large amount of new features and not to mention it will be free for a week to introduce new players) and that they should keep up with content releases. There’s still many highly requested features by the community that haven’t made it into the game yet.

I know some people tire of the REQs, that they are just content fillers for each update, but I have loved getting new weapons, skins, and armors. IMO, it keeps the game fresh and keeps me playing it.

This is just my two cents on what 343 should do to support the game now, but what do you, the rest of the community think?

Dunno. And my magic eightball says ask again later.

Perhaps we’ll get more news about post-launch content at the Paris games event. Or when HW2 launches.

I was waiting for the last minute while watching the livestream last night and I realized that they wouldn’t have a preview for the next update. XD But I hope to hear more in this week’s Community Update

I hope they don’t drop support for this game, it’d be a bad decision on their part if they ended up moving on to other things. A bad decision on the community side of things, they want the community to be how it was, or at least more unified. Dropping support on Halo 5 won’t help out in the long run, but i’m sure 343i knows that.

Likely won’t be a community update this week as we had a very large live stream and RTX is this weekend. On live stream weeks the stream generally supersedes the bulletin. look for it returning next week though

As for the future of Halo 5, I’m sure there’s still a lot of things that haven’t been released to us yet. Certainly the Forge team have plans so I don’t think we’ve seen the last updates dropping

Oh right, I’ll be waiting then! (And playing WZFF ;))
Yeah with the whole Forge on PC thing, I’m sure they’ll keep updating forge periodically, and Tom French said not all the REQ items were in, yet. It’ll be interesting to see if they’ll keep updating forge with the rest of the game now, or update it separately

Nothing is next. Aside from a few pithy REQ “updates”, it’s pretty clear 343i intends to drop this game like a bad habit and move on the the next “bing thing” designed to empty indiscriminate players’ wallets as fast as possible.

Updates to Forge aren’t pithy REQ updates and if they seriously planned to drop it “like a bad habit”, they wouldn’t have just opened up a bunch of map submission threads in Community Creations. They still have plenty of plans to freshen up matchmaking with new maps and game modes. You should read up on the stuff the Forge team are doing

Halo 5 has no future…

Their best chance to extend the lifespan of their games and eventually the franchise is to have a content loaded game at launch. They need to hit it out of the park with the first impressions, the FPS market is changing and the games of the past several years seem stale and uninspiring (imo). They had a good chance with 5 but we know how that is going. 5 may not have much of a future going forward but the franchise can rejuvenate itself once more. At least we can hope.

plus we know at least 1 more map is coming, the Sanghelios WZA map.

We have a year and a half until Halo 6 so they will probably release some more little bonus’ to keep the fan base engaged. Not sure Halo Wars 2 will do that so that is important.

This game is failure. Let 343 work on Halo 6 to be successful.

I’ve noticed that 343 is being very careful to not say that this is the last update. Every time they’ve said like “the latest update is the biggest”, etc. I wonder if they’ll be less frequent, like every other month, or if they’ll keep it up
