I think chief is going to be around for halo 6, but past that he won’t have a lot of story fuel left. Personally I believe that Chief will be given the mantle by the forerunners in halo 6. Do you think 343 will have the guts to kill him?
No. They were brave enough to kill Cortana, but not Chief. That would make more fans leave the franchise than appreciate or accept it.
If they kill chief, they are killing the franchise. I couldn’t imagine playing a halo game without him being the main character. Although I did love halo wars I can’t play halo without chief. Halo reach was terrible from start to finish and ODST was alright. Chief is halo and I don’t think he’s going any where. Well Atleast I hope not
I think there is a real possibility that Chief will die in this game and that Locke will come to understand Chief and take over for him. It would be epic… but sad.
I think they will not. He is a huge part of the franchise. I mean Cortona is dead but I don’t think it is the last we will see of her. Plus they are finally started to show character to Master Chief and it would not make sense to do this much work to show a struggle and then kill him off
Like I keep saying in all of the other threads chief is not halo. The universe of halo is way bigger than the chief, his story is only one of many to be told and we’ve experienced more than enough of his story. Many things could happen to chief he could die, retire, he could lead a spartan program , or something completely bizarre. We won’t know exactly what will happen to him until we see it but we do know it is a fact that his story is coming to an end.

Even though you say he is not halo, every person I have asked will say that when they first think of halo, they think of Chief. A lot of people will leave it if chief would be killed off and if someone else tries to take his spot. I mean it is ok if their is other stories out there like halo 3 ODST or reach, heck even Halo wars or spartan assault/strike. But he is the franchise and there is not much stoping that mind set
I think the 7th halo game is going to be chiefs last, but I have no idea how it’s going to end for him.
I had no problem to play halo without the chef. i loved to play halo reach as my first halo and it was realy good for me. but i have a big problem to play as locke, i hate him so much. so unsympathic.
i think if chief dies, then in halo 6.or he retired as the chief and live in peace with cortana on a lonly halo ;).

That’s because they’re chief cheerleaders. I bet those same people hated the arbiter, reach, and odst. No he isn’t the franchise, he’s just a character in the franchise. It’s already been decided that his story will end if people can’t accept that and leave because of it oh well it would just show me that they didn’t truly like halo for what it is.
I like halo as a whole not just chief
If anything, I see Chief becoming a full on rogue and straight up disappearing, or at least becoming some sort of mentor. I feel once he completes his goals, he’ll get that nice retirement story or something like that. Chief dying will be hard on people, Chief completely leaving UNSC and our own vision, where we can find Easter eggs or evidence of him, that’s good.
I see it as pulling a GTA V where Niko can be seen here and there through Easter eggs, and he’s still kicking somewhere out there. That’d be the safest move for 343 in my opinion.
R.I.P?
He’s going to be around until at least the next game. I don’t think they’d start a new trilogy with him (after being on ice and presumed dead by everyone for 4 years) only to kill him off.

I believe if they were to kill off Master Chief, it sorta symbolizes 343 ending what Bungie created and beginning 343’s “Halo”.
Chief can already be digitized, since the librarian sped up his evolution process, so he may be able to live forever. I think he will, with humanity, take on the mantle of responsibility and they will end the series with hope.
This is just my idea, not in anyway factual or to be relied upon. But if the Chief were to somehow transcend death, become one with the Mantle, maybe we could get a new character. Locke would still be a major player, but what if your very own Spartan became a legend? Your customized MP Spartan is what you would use through the campaign. Instead of starting as a legend, you become one.
