I have played every halo as Im sure all of you have. And while I’ve enjoyed all of them, I have seen alot of -Yoinking!- about halo 4. Now I will say I never played halo 2 online, only LAN parties, the reason I bring that up is because people say halo 2 was the one that revolutionized multiplayer. I just want for anyone reading this to understand my background in the halo universe. Now as for the next halos… I’ve heard alot about how halo 4 was better for the casual player and how it left competitive players out in the cold. Personally I dont know much about competitive play. However I am starting this thread to discuss possible changes to be made to the multiplayer aspect of the game. First… Armor Abilities, I know that they are extremely popular however they also seem to be a pain in the -Yoink- for competitive play from what I’ve read. So I propose that instead all players start out with sprint like it is now. However armor abilities go back to ye old equipment, which can be picked up and dropped just like halo 3. I think the AA’s should be a ordinance drop, removing a gun as an option for ordinance, and also removing damage boost. Ordinance drops should be a choice for the player to choose between, extra grenades, extra ammo, or a piece of equipment. And if a player is killed before using their equipment it falls on the ground for anyone to pick up, also if they have grenades or a gun with extra ammo, those are also dropped for anyone passing by. Now we go to the ranking system. I enjoy a ranking system based on just playing casually, however I also enjoy a ranking system for playing well. So I propose a system much like halo 4’s where there is a skill based system (like halo 3) and there is also a normal system for casual play, and as you play the skill based one will go either up,down,or remain the same. While the casual system just goes up. However we need more ranks for the casual system, 1-130 is not nearly enough, or maybe change how much xp you get, I honestly liked reach’s ranking system when it comes to casual play, a system that just takes a fairly reasonable long time to get to max rank. Commendations, I think commendations are great, however they should not give xp for ranking up, unless you have a system like reach’s ranking. If they do give xp then let it be a slight boost, but even if they dont, you should unlock armor based on commendation progress. Also armor based on your casual play level. I would say maybe some armor for people who rank high on skill based, but thats not fair to the -Yoink- players who still want to unlock every armor they can, maybe some based on lower skill levels like 10-20. I think this could be a great game, just dont be afraid to take things away from the game, if you only ever add on then you just become a call of duty clone, and halo is special to those of us who have played it forever. Anyone else wanna give some suggestions?
Um, many of your “suggestions” are already in Halo 4.
Personally, IMO, these few things should happen:
-
Nerf grenades. They are way too powerful and they seem to be used more frequently than weapons in general now. I can’t run 5 feet into combat without grenades flying over my head and I frequently see players try and chuck grenades half way across Ragnarok. It is unbelievably nooby. Might as well take out guns in Halo, because grenades are about the only thing anybody uses anymore.
-
Nerf AR. See above example and it is WAY to powerful at close range. It can even beat a DMR for crying out loud! That is way too powerful. Very handy for players who have no clue how to play, but EXTREMELY annoying for more competitive players like myself.

Increase the ranks on Halo 4. I don’t mind being an SR 130 at all, but I wouldn’t mind having a few more specializations to progress a little bit higher either. I think SR 150 would be a good place to stop.
There are no other complaints that I have. If 343 fixed these three things, I would be the happiest Halo gamer on the planet. Of course, I enjoy Halo 4 as it is, but modifying these three things would make the experience far more worthwhile. But, who am I kidding. I will be playing Halo 4 no matter what 343 does to it.
