Is it just me or does anyone else miss the Reach menu UI? It was similar to Halo 3 but was more polished and abundant with features. The Halo 4 UI seems cluttered and doesn’t really make sense to me. Even a lot of concept arts looked better than what 343i made. I don’t know if this is really a big deal but it does get a tad annoying and hopefully the next Halo will be based of Reach’s.
I did love the Halo: Reach UI, it was simple and smooth.
Yes, I much prefer the REACH UI.
Played halo 3 recently, god that UI is bad now.
It was nicer it takes too long to navigate 4s and change stuff around like audio and file searching, uggghhh it’s too long
Halo 5 needs to use an improved version of Reach’s UI, which was arguably the best in the series. Halo 4’s needs to disappear forever and be quickly forgotten about… it’s just so horrible.

Haha, it looks like it belongs in the 90’s with internet 1.
In my former blind hatred of Reach and former blind love for H3, I used to hate it. Now I think it’s the best Halo UI thus far. I especially love how the background changes with mission selection.
Of course, Halo PC has it beat in settings.

Agreed
A return to previous Halo UI is definitely needed. Halo 4’s is very strange and doesn’t feel right. It’s not bad, in my opinion, but it’s not the most user friendly, and definitely not Halo.
I will say that somethings, such as commendations, are easier to get to than in Halo Reach, and Halo 4 does it right by keeping all player customization in one section (vs the split between the armory and “player” sections in Halo Reach). So, take what works with Halo 4’s organization, and use Halo Reach’s UI layout, and we have the (arguably) perfect Halo UI.
OK, this is one of the rare things that I agree with that I dislike about Halo 4. I too, prefer Halo Reach’s UI. I miss the layout, detail and colors!

Where? Were they official or fanmade? If fanmade that would explain why I haven’t seen them.
Halo 4’s UI is so ugly, and poorly organised. I really hope something similar to Reach’s UI returns. This would of been a lot better for Halo 4, brings back the older style with 343’s own spin on it.
no , Halo 2 had the best Halo 4 is more like Halo 1 kinda
I believe I wouldn’t be very wrong if I said that everyone misses the Reach UI. It was the intuitive and sleek, and in general very professional looking. The Halo 4 UI is the polar opposite of that. It doesn’t feel good to use and doesn’t look good. A UI should be as transparent as possible. A good UI is one the user barely even notices, and when they do, it just looks more like a piece of art rather than a machine.

Reach was meh i don’t see how people liked it that much that you “miss” stuff from it .

It had a simple organization and flow, finding things and using the UI was very simple and easy to pick up, especially for all the information at a player’s fingertips. And everything Tsassi said.

It handled the needed functionality easily. On the other side it showed all the necessary information about the match: the gametype, the map; while on the other side it showed the players in the lobby, over which you could just hover and see more information about them. But at the same time it wasn’t obtrusive. If you didn’t need to use it, it blended well into the beautiful art on the background.
Not to say it was any sort of Holy Grail of user interface design, but it was still a well designed one. In general, it continued the same design from Halo 2 and 3 with some added functionality. But the general design was all you’d expect from a good UI.
Back in April, the first time I played Halo 4 I knew the menu UI wasn’t going to cut it. The player cards take up too much space and don’t allow you to relay as much information at a glance.
Halo 4’s UI is very simple and clear, except for the pause menu stuff. That should be simplified to the reach version, even though it’s not ridiculously hard to use, it’s only problem is that it doesn’t lay out all the features immediately.
It looks really cool, but it’s just not that practical.

Reach’s was more simple and didnt take up most of the screen.
