Future Halo Maps

In Halo 5, I would like to Have 3 popular community maps from previous games return as developed maps in the sense they were made with the development team. Imagine the map “The Ark” from team doubles on Halo 5 but made by 343’s engine as a base multiplayer map fully detailed as a map like (best example) skyline?

That’s but an example. Prior to the games release, I would suggest a playlist is formed on Halo 4 where players vote for their favorite map every week for 3 weeks, the maps changing every week. the winning map of each week would return made as a fully designed map in Halo 5.

Personally, I can’t really recall any notable “community maps” besides the Halo 3 MLG maps and a number of Halo: Reach’s Forge World maps.

Really? Halo 4 has quite a few good ones out there, but only a handful have made it into matchmaking. Take a look at these 2 sites:

Forge Hub
Forge Cafe

I love this idea by the way, but I’m not sure if 3 maps is plausible; even one would be really nice.

Are you saying that 343 should remake community forge maps in the real game engine every 3 weeks? Because that seems like a bit… to much to ask.

I think you may have misread the original post there. He was saying that for a period of 3 weeks, the community would vote on a selection of community-made maps that differ each of the three weeks and the most popular of the maps would be remade as actual maps in Halo 5.

I personally think this is a great idea given how so far, the community has made better maps than 343i/CA has and that nothing would be more rewarding to Forgers than seeing their work on the cover of Halo 5’s multiplayer.

While a great idea, I don’t think it will happen. Not because I don’t think 343i would be up for it, but simply because we have no idea what Halo 5 will play like. The current community maps are more often than not designed around specific settings, be these settings infinity, or more likely Throwdown (and other competitive variations).

Because of this, and because of the possible changes that could be made to Halo 5, the things that give these maps their appeal in Halo 4 may very well not be there. Wouldn’t make sense to bring in maps that aren’t guaranteed to play well on a new system… Although I suppose the devs could alter the maps in order to make them work…

Either way, I do like the idea, but I think it would make more sense to do it after the games release. Really, I think they should do a “Community Pack” map pack (for free more than likely, as legal issues may restrict their ability to sell the maps) featuring the top 3 Community maps, and two new forge maps to work with. It’ll give us the same incentive to forge, but this time with a guarantee that the maps will work properly in the new game.

I think the problem is the community maps don’t get a lot of exposure anymore. Up until the end of reach there was always this push to find new maps, but with Halo 4 the forge community has dwindled and there’s very little ways to get new maps to circulate. It’s a bit disappointing, but it would explain why there aren’t any big community favourites around.
