Future Halo Games Will Be Named Not Numbered

http://halo4nation.com/news/future-halo-games-named-numbered/

This doesn’t bother me; I mean, Halo 7 or even Halo 6 just sounds too cheesy, like some bad movie franchise. But that’s just me.

If… and this is a if… the Reclaimer Saga reaches Halo 17… then WTF… but they should stop number at Halo 7… to honor the 7 reference.

What?! No Halo 117. This…is…heresy!

I’m honestly fine with this.

I wholly endorse this. Counting numbers is for kiddies. Halo is about stories. IMHO they never should have stopped this after Combat Evolved.

Not sure how I feel about this… Also lets hope we don’t get out to Halo 17… I feel like that a little silly.

I don’t like this. There’s nothing wrong with simply Halo 6 or Halo 7. I would honestly rather have numbers than subtitles. Dropping the numbers only tells me that they plan on squeezing out way more Halo games than they should be. I love Halo, but Master Chief’s story has to come to an end at some point. I don’t want Halo to make it to Halo 17.

I was worried they would do something like this when they decided to change the Reclaimer Trilogy into the Reclaimer Saga. Seems like they’re just gonna keep pumping out Halo games left and right to rake in that cash.

Fine by me.

I’m okay with this.

I got no problem with this. High numbered titles sound ridiculous anyway.

Not every main entry Halo title has to be about the Master Chief. New characters could take on the role of the main protagonist.

So? If they’re quality titles, does that really matter?

That stinks. When series lose their numbers, it gets difficult to remember or tell in what order they released.

Not only that, but because the subtitle requires a little extra creativity, they tend to be lame.

I expect them to drop the numbers by at most, following Halo 9. On the other hand, I can almost guarantee that “Halo 6” will retain its “6”.

Yeah, I think when we get past a certain number, it will look a bit silly. They personally have my greenlight on this issue.

Except Bonnie is clearly talking about Master Chief’s story in this article.

“It would still be a Master Chief story. I just don’t want us to get to, like, Halo 17.” – Her exact words.

She has no problem with a dozen more Halo games featuring Master Chief as the main character… as long as there isn’t a number attached to the title revealing how much they’ve milked the franchise. Halo can’t and shouldn’t go on forever.

> So? If they’re quality titles, does that really matter?

But they won’t be quality titles if their only goal is to bring in more money. All they have to do is slap a “Halo” on the cover and they’ll sell millions of copies no matter how -Yoink- the game is. Eventually, there will be no passion or desire to create a great experience because they’ll make money either way.

I agree. However, this is only because of its reputation. If every game and book becomes junk for many years in a row, its reputation will fail (as it already has) and eventually the fan base will die out completely. Some things are passionless money-grabs, but every good business knows you have to make quality products in order to maintain a consumer base.

I am okay with this. I think the franchise needs to die out by 2021*.

IMO this is how the next 7 years should look.
2015: Halo 5 Guardians
2017: Halo ODST 2
2018: Halo Wars 2**
2019: Halo 6 (Or whatever they call it)
2020: Spinoff open world RPG game.**
2021: Halo 7

  • I picked 2021 because that would mark 20 years of Halo games. I mean look at Call of Duty. It’s only ten years old and it’s getting old. Even with new engines, franchises can’t last too long.

** These games would be made possible in the short time frame because 343 would most likely outsource their development to another company while still keeping in collaboration.

But…

Spartans. Never. Die.

(Somebody had to do it.)

Could we bump this up to 2016? xD This is something I have been pushing for a very, very long time.

I don’t see this as a big deal, though some will sadly.
