So, like every week I do these posts for the good of future Halo titles, which do you like more or would you like both?
Also, this is an embarrassingly short post, I don’t think I have to make such a huge statement, it’s really just personal taste from you guys.
I like Flinch in H4 because of the snapshot medal not being given to players so easily, now if they took that medal away, I would like Descope, but personally, I would like to see a hybrid of the two gameplay elements together, but really balanced.
Thoughts below
> Flinching and descoping would be based on damage.
> If it breaks your shield, or at least damages it past halfway, it’d make you descope, and every shot after that would make you descope until your shield recharges.
>
> That way, if you get a glancing shot or if you’re barely hitting them at a distance you’d only be flinching them, but being accurate or outgunning someone would make them descope.
>
> For snipers, this means that having distance and not being noticed is your best friend. For people shooting snipers, this means don’t miss.
> could along with descoping when your shield breaks could the weapon you’re shooting also be a factor? Example would be if I shot you with a pistol from a distance it would make you barely flinch, an automatic will make you flinch harder, and BR/DMR/Light Rifle and anything above will descope you.
> 2 head shots in a row (utility weapons) makes you descope. 1st shot, major flinch, 2nd, descope and body shots make you do minor flinching.
I posted this somewhere, I’m not sure where though.
Anyway:
Flinching and descoping would be based on damage.
If it breaks your shield, or at least damages it past halfway, it’d make you descope, and every shot after that would make you descope until your shield recharges.
That way, if you get a glancing shot or if you’re barely hitting them at a distance you’d only be flinching them, but being accurate or outgunning someone would make them descope.
For snipers, this means that having distance and not being noticed is your best friend. For people shooting snipers, this means don’t miss.
Descoping needs to return. Snipers are pretty much unstoppable and long range fights devolve into who saw who first. Descoping allows a player to turn the tables in a fight if he has better control without the aid of aim assist from the scope.

I like it, I put it in the OP so if there are more ideas I can stockpile them, I like this discussion, more engaging than just voting and leaving
Descope and no flinch times a billion. No descope does not work with halo or really snipers in any game IMO. Flinch I strongly don’t like just because it is a more random factor. Descope adds an enormous level of skill to shooting and sniping. I know plenty of people that have told me that they could have gotten over many other things in h4 they weren’t good, but that no descope single handedky ruined the game.
No descope and flinch in halo should forever die in a fire and whoever proposed it at 343 should fired and find a new career. Not even kidding.
As things currently stand, descope worked, flinch doesn’t.
I think that this argument is at the point where we have to ask ourselves:
Do we want 343 spending time trying to fix a flawed gameplay mechanic? Or do we want them to go back to a fundamental mechanic of Halo that not only worked, but is greatly missed by the community?
I have to say both. While I like the idea that was mentioned of descoping at either half health or when your shield breaks I have another idea. Flinch for the everyday precision weapons and descope for sniper rifles. While I agree that descope takes skill to still get the kill so does flinch. But I believe a weapon that can kill me with one shot needs to have that little extra skill to get me when I start shooting at you.
I understand why snipers not getting descoped is obviously annoying and bad for gameplay, but that same principle applies to all scoped weapons to a lesser degree. Lack of descope will add more power to those weapons over non scoped weapons since they can’t hope to knock them out of zoom at all. Also, I and many others thought that when you are in a long range BR or DMR or pistol fight, one of the funniest and most challenging parts was battling to be the one in scope.
I want to see de-scope back, it increases the skill game instead of when you get the first shot on someone and they just mash the trigger and kill you because they didn’t de-scope

Lets be honest, if a person has a sniper especially a beam rifle it pretty much is who saw who first.

That’s not because of descoping, that’s because the beam rifle has ridiculous high aim assist and the sniper has a RRR when unscoped. Both of which should not be the case.

I’m guessing then they had those in previous Halos? Think broader, they both have their pros and cons
