The weekly capstone challenge for Tenrai Week 3 involves stopping a total of three enemy killing sprees. While perhaps in theory this may sound like a challenge, many in the community have been vocal about their dissatisfaction/dislike/contempt of the challenge and for good reason. There is already an existing weekly event challenge involving stopping ONE killing spree, and even this challenge was rather questionable as well, but at least we were given the option to swap it. We cannot swap the capstone weekly in question, however. These challenges rely too heavily on situational opportunity rather than being achieved through actual skill/dedication over time.
While browsing the forums and internet I noticed some players have said that just by playing the game they were able to eventually complete these kinds of challenges, some without even thinking about it. Yet I can also say that the general consensus seems to be that this type of challenge doesn’t really fit in with the others in terms of being achievable through skill and time, instead they’re having to actively spend an unnecessary amount of time on the challenge and eyeing the kill-feed in hopes of catching a player with a killing spree.
As feedback, I propose 343 replace all future fiesta killjoy-related challenges with challenges that ask you to achieve a killing spree instead. I’m sure many would agree this is much more obtainable and actually requires a degree of skill to achieve compared to hoping you get a favorable situation you can’t really control (unless you party-up and willingly throw a match).
What do you guys think?
EDIT: Additionally I should note that the weekly killing spree challenges in question should be no more than earn one killing spree in a single match; achieving consistent sprees in a game of Fiesta is also a chore. For example, if the current weekly Tenrai 3 capstone were to aim for sprees instead of killjoys, it would be a cumulative: three killing sprees in total, one per match.
I’m stuck with this challenge since yesterday, my patience is running out with all the crap they’re doing in the game. If this type of challenge continues like this I will have to leave the game. This garbage of challenges is more stressful than a job, I’m supposed to play for fun not stress
Literally logged into waypoint for the first time in years just to complain about this, the killjoy ultimate. Worst weekly ever, basically chance based and playing well makes it harder!?!? total BS. Whoever at 343 thought it was a good idea is an idiot. takes only a couple matches to realise “Oh crap this is pretty broken”. There are a number of threads about it and ima be posting on them all.
While that is true, a lot of people also complain about having to do any challenge what-so-ever. While that challenge was…challenging, it at least encouraged people to play better and help their team by getting a spree instead of feeding the other team kills to get a killjoy.
I agree. I’ve seen people saying that they have a weekly challenge for getting 5 killjoys…that’s more than the capstone challenge. Having to do that AND then get the capstone to show up is pretty lame (although kinda funny at the same time).
Just as I was going to give up on the Fiesta killjoy challenge, I ended up in two matches back-to-back with pretty rubbish teammates (and I’m not exactly that good ). My team both times ended up with about half the kills of the other side, but it did mean I got the killjoy medal relatively easily.
Yeah, I’m having a hard time with this one also. Plenty of kills…None of them a killjoy. I did the one killjoy earlier in the week, but it wasn’t intentionally. It’s hard to make this one happen 3 times.
Especially the challenge is “play fiesta until you get lucky.” I’ll try some more tonight, but it’s got me nervous.
This challenge feels real bad to complite because there is no optimal wa yto achieve this that feels good. Either get lucky with bad team mates or try to play bad to give the enemy easier kills so that you might have a chance to kill them.
Why have some of these challenges been designed without checking how the players would react to them?
Yeah, at least make the challenge be something thats in our control. But at the same time DONT GET YOUR HOPES UP, they won’t make any big changes to the challenge system, they are selling the solution in the store for $2.
Actually, the entire problem with this challenge and the challenge system in general, is the pseudo progression and enforced “time to complete”
I’ve had plenty of double kills and killjoys over the course of the week, but none of them when the challenges that required them were available. The stupid “Upcoming Challenges” and “Capstone Challenge” concept is ridiculously restrictive in the way players progress. MCC never tried to do that, and its challenge system felt good because you can play the game normally and the challenges complete themselves AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, UPDATE THEMSELVES MID MATCH. You however, do get bans if you quit a match so that’s on you.
I imagine if Infinite just let all challenges be available from the get go, and have the Capstone reward given the moment you clear your entire list of challenges, it will be a much better experience for all of us.
Ido t really play anymore but I went in yesterday evening and got all my challenges done. This is the only one I have left to do.
I’d played almost exclusively Fiesta for 4 hours and never got a single Killjoy in that period. I don’t have much hope of getting this done when I play later on.
Off topic I have no challenges left and I’m only sitting at 26 or 27 out of 30 unlocks. Did I mess up somewhere? I’ve no challenges left to unlock the rest.
Or we can have them all active. Why the hell not? There is literally no reason to gate away a majority of your challenges besides forcing the player to play over and over to clear each challenge as they come up.
If your game revolves around clearing challenges for content instead of playing the game itself and clear challenges along the way, then you have a serious gameplay loop problem.
Infinite is clearly suffering from this right now because people just want the challenge reward and gtfo because Infinite seriously sucks to play with its myriad of problems and lack of content for 2 months.
It’s hard enough to get a killing spree in fiesta due to the random spawning of power weapons. Trying to get a killjoy is exponentially worse. In most games you might see one perhaps two players with killing sprees, but not always. Having to be the one player on your team that manages to be in the right place and actually stop another player that is on a killing spree is just annoying. Having to do it three times is absolute punishment. I did not appreciate the ultimate challenge this week at all. Agree that having players get killing sprees is a much better solution.
