No idea why you typed all this up to me. 343 wants to make money, if you have an issue let them know
If 343/Microsoft is generous enough to give credits for matches without having daily/weekly caps you can bet your favorite Mjölnir it will be much more grindy than 1% your match score.
Where did you get that they don’t want 343 to make money from what they wrote. I see 343 defenders all the time acting like anyone will a problem with the way things are wants 343 to go broke. But no one has asked for anything like that. If you read that post you’d see what they’re talking about still gives 343 plenty of ways to make money. Heck, right now the monetizing skipping the pass, and people it. People paid hundreds of dollars to skip the pass grind day one. You think people wouldn’t pay to skip having to getting out over 4000 matches?
I don’t know. They give a decent amount out through their rewards program. No reason they can’t do the same with Infinite, especially seeing as how you can use rewards points on credits.
I hope you’ll excuse me for being less optimist based on what we’ve seen so far from the store.
You thought the BP was overpriced?? Lol, dude, for $10 you get 100+ rewards, that’s less than $1 per item
Because you seem to think it is this system would be unlogical, I proved you wrong
I already proved this wrong in my previous post
I tweaked a few things to make it a little more fair to the players even and even then, you would need over 1k battles per season (much easier this season) to get enough credits from playing to buy everything.
I’m sorry to all the completionists out there, but 343 has no intention of players collecting every single cosmetic they release, unless players want to break out their wallet. The average player will only be interested in a few things.
At 1% plus participation plus wins (call it an average of 25 credits per match) it would take 80 games to get 2k credits (the usual weekly big bundle). The hardcore players can get this done in a day or 2. The heavy players in maybe a week, and the casual in maybe 3 weeks.
I don’t know about you, but if I can earn 2k credits in 2 weeks I would be able to collect every piece I am interested in, and more. I would have no reason to purchase anything, ever.
343 will want to give players just enough credits to give them a taste of the store, and break down the resistance to even open the door. They could do something similar to your plan, but I would imagine there would be a daily or weekly max a player could earn.
I’m sorry, you haven’t proven anything, you’ve given math based on assumptions (often fair assumptions, I’ll give you that), but the only proof we will ever get is when 343 tells us their plans. I hope you are right, I would love to actually unlock everything I want without making any purchases. I just think you are setting your expectations up a little high and you’ll eventually be disappointed.
Not if they change it to this system, they will actually gain more money this way, especially from whales
Tbch, I don’t think they will let us either but I still like to toss some ideas around. Like I said, this system would make them way more money than they will with the current system, most people are casuals and either don’t play a lot, or aren’t extremely good at the game. And also, most people prefer to pay to skip a grind than grind it out, otherwise games like War Thunder or World of Tanks, or any other game with a “premium” subscription system wouldn’t be able to thrive. Lord of the Rings Online, an MMO, gains money from people buying stuff, to skip a grind, and it is considered one of the most successful MMO’s out there.
With a system like this, they could simply get rid of the BP and instead just have a section that shows off all the new content for the season, which you can buy stuff for the season straight from that. Also could have certain objects require “premium” currency that can only be bought with money, these could be some of the more cool looking items and would entice people to buy them. If you’re so worried about people not spending money
I agree with literally everything in your OP, and think it is a great idea. I’ve given similar thoughts elsewhere. I just don’t think we’ll see as many free credits as you are suggesting. I think we’ll see maybe 200 credits max a week or 1000 credits max from the battle pass.
ooooo I got an idea, imagine we could create a armor bundle as well as buying bundles they give us. where we can select armor parts for a core (if cross core is still not available) and get it at a markdown price
(also few things id change would be attachments, as a helm attachment 50 credits cheaper than a chest wont fly rly well since its so small it can be unoticeable @ first, specify if its 1 or both shoulders (though you plural it so imma say both), utility and wrist id make lower as its not a main focus, along with knees. emblems arent in here, but im going to bank that you want them free like they did with emblems in 5 where they got taken out of the rotation in lootboxes. you should also put in rarities values since that aint going away.)
EA has a system like this for the Sims 4. It’s pretty neat. Not saying the Sims doesn’t have its own monetization issues, it does, but making your own bundles isn’t one of them.
Same but one can hope, right?
But if we’re being real, in reality, people would get more stuff for free but they would still get more money in the end
So much of the discussion around earnable credits and Battle Passes misses out on one of the key differences between Infinite’s BP and the BPs of other games: Infinite’s BPs never expire.
This needs to be factored into every discussion about Credits being earned in the BP. If every BP going forward gives you enough Credits to get the next one, then people can play free and earn tons of stuff free, forever. It sounds good on its face but if that’s the way it goes, it makes me worry that 343i would start ramping up bad decisions in other areas.
@BlueDevistator pointed out farther up the thread how they get people hooked with the slow trickle of credits.
So my two main worries are: BP2 doesn’t have enough Credits to buy BP3, people get rightfully angry. Or, BP2 has enough Credits to get BP3, but 343i ramps up monetization elsewhere.
The best way that they could push forward is making it so that all BPs starting with BP2 are flat cash purchases. No Credits can be used to buy BP2, BP3, and so forth. But you can buy BP1 with Credits just fine. You can earn Credits in the BP, as well as part of the various events like Cyber Showdown, Winter Contingency, and Fractures.
As well, all Credits earned should be in denominations of 100 or more; it’s not good when all Store stuff is in 00 as the last two digits and someone has like, 1533 Credits. The store shouldn’t have rotating featured items. You can see all the bundles and individual items in said bundle in a searchable catalogue. Said items could routinely go on sale, too. I remember when Gears 5 updated their store to be something like that and it was a massive improvement.
Clear-cut rewards, clear-cut prices for things on the store, and clear-cut expectations of how much someone would have to play to afford a premium item in the store. That would all go toward making playing Infinite feel less like a job, which is something that they said they wanted to do.
Honestly, I don’t even care what’s in S2 at this point. It could be the best battle pass that ever was. They are not getting another single penny from me until the de-sync and broken matchmaking are fixed and on point. Till then not another single penny.
For reference, I’m probably considered a “whale”, I play a game called Star Citizen. Some of the microtransactions in that game are up to $3300 an item. I’m currently £2.5 - 3k into that game, with no regrets.
I wish all whales were like you but unfortunately they aren’t
You haven’t played other f2p games.
The problem with this is that good players would make drastically more money than lower skilled players, and it would encourage pub stomping.
Please god no. This is so specific that it could be seen as coercive or confusing. Lets just keep everything at dollar amounts for simplicity and transparency purposes.
It is but expect it to be complained about for weeks/months anyway.
This would just screw over people that actually spend money, devaluing the paid BP and frustrating the people that actually spend money on the game.
Can’t happen very often with SBMM. There is pub stomping in every competitive game.
I will fix it after I reply to you
Who would complain about it?
How would it screw over people who spend money? The BP is already an extremely good value for what you get
