Future Battlepasses

First of all, for this system to work and be fair, the economy would need to change.

Crosscore is enabled for everything

Credits are earnable through gameplay, Score is transferred to credits (i.e. 2000 score is 20 credits)
You also get 5 credits for every match completed, 10 for every win. This would be more rewarding to more skilled players, hence giving the feeling that when you see a decked out Spartan, they really earned that.

Medals earn credits as well

Normal=1
Heroic=5
Legendary=10
Mythic=15

Medals in customs don’t award credits and you must earn double the score to earn credits from score (MM 2000=20 credits, customs 4000=20 credits)
Overrides (except for bots) disable credit gain)

Store also must be changed for a system like this to work.
100 credits=$1
You can buy any amount of credits that is a multiple of 100.
(i.e. someone wants to buy 1500 worth of credits, they type in that value and see that they must pay $15. They click buy and get a confirm screen, yes, no…
Another person wants to buy 10000 worth of credits and sees that it costs $100, ect ect)

Instead of the store being the only place to buy new cosmetics, you can buy everything straight from the customization section, while the store area is reserved bundles which offer you items for discounts. There should be 12 bundles available at one time (HCS section can fit 12 bundles, so why can’t the other page do it)

You can go to the customization area. You have your unlocked items and then your locked items.

Helmets
500 cr

Helmet Attachments
300 cr

Visor
300 cr

Chest
400 cr

Shoulders
400 (200 per shoulder) cr

Gloves
200 cr

Wrist
300 cr

Utility
300 cr

Knee pads
400 (200 per knee, knees are now left knee, right knee) cr

Coating
300 cr

Bundles are priced at a 50% discount

Does that sound like a fair system? Of course there is also weapon/vehicle modules, emblems, AI, nameplates, stances too.

Also, the new BP would have a cosmetic reward every level, along with the challenge swaps and get rid of XP boosts, just stick with challenge swaps.

So with this new BP, it would look something like this. I’ll use this season’s BP as an example
So first of all, it is divided into quality levels. First 25 levels are common, next 25 are rare, next 25 are epic, final 25 are legendary. Now, I know items may not actually be better than others since different people like different things but this would make people feel like," Oh, that is a higher rarity level, it must be better" and give them more incentive to get to that level.

Free Lvl 1… Backdrop
Lvl 2… Armor Core
Free Lvl 3… Helmet Attachment
Lvl 4. …Chest + challenge swap
Free Lvl 5… Wrist
Lvl 6… Coating + CS
Free Lvl 7… Visor
Lvl 8… Left Shoulder
Free Lvl 9… Right Shoulder + CS
Lvl 10… Helmet Attachment
Free Lvl 11… Helmet + CS
Lvl 12… Coating
Free Lvl 13… Chest
Lvl 14… Wrist + CS
Free Lvl 15… Coating

And actually, we are 1 level ahead of the BP we have now, so 343/MS would actually be gaining stuff to sell

There will probably be enough credits in the pass to buy the next one and that’s it. It’s not logical to just give people in game currency for every match, no other game is doing this just saying

Halo 5 let you earn points to buy req packs.

Halo 5 is years old and was a full price game at launch. No other free to play game that infinite is competing with is doing this

i dunno itll probably be like, one helmet, 20 credits to earn, the same emblem you gotta earn 10 times and 80 challenge swaps

I don’t hold Halo to the standards of other crappy F2P games. I expect it to be better.

That’s too bad, Fortnite’s doing everything better than this game. Just get with the times and accept this is what happens when 343 cares more about “20 million players!!” Than making a good game worth buying

No other game requires you to dish out $1000 per season to get everything, not to mention they have their $60 campaign along with future DLCs

And besides, this would benefit 343/MS. The whales would buy everything instantly and others would buy stuff because it is fair.

Since you’re so worried about the logic of it all, lets look at how much money 343 stands to make, shall we?
We’re gonna ignore the BP for a minute but hand with me here
Helmets=$165
Helmet attachments=$133
Visors=$110
Chests=$144
Shoulders=$245
Gloves=$18
Wrists=$17
Utilities=$41
Knees=$39
Coatings=$374

Comes out to $1286. Not including AI, Emblems, Backdrops, and Stances. This lowers some due to the BP and then being able to earn credits but they still stand to make a lot every season, so money would not be an issue. Even if they made $20 per person and then the whales buy everything per season. Let’s count up how much they would make in a season, shall we? Let’s say there’s 50k whales and then 5 million people spend $20 on the game per season…
They stand to make $257 million from the whales, PER YEAR. If the game truly goes for 10 years, that is $2.6 billion from whales alone.
Now for the other players, 5 million people spend $20 per season.
That’s $400 million per year, turns out to $4 billion, turns out to $6.6 billion just off of the MP cosmetics.
Then they have all the campaigns that will release during those 10 years. SO. Like I said. Money is not an issue, also, lets do a little more for the little doubter in you, shall we?

The total credits cost of everything( everything armor related) from S1 would be 114,150.

With this system, you would need to play 4,566 battles of straight 2000 score to get everything, just from S1. Less of course due to BP but still. 343 and MS would make plenty of money over the game’s lifetime, this actually might even be a little overprices but it is better than what we have now.

I bought the premium battle pass season 1 and already completed it.
Im speaking for myself, for me it was overpriced.

If i buy the battle pass for season 2 depends very much from:

  • what i get for the value of 10 Euro
  • what gamemodes, maps are available
  • what was fixed for the MP

No idea why you typed all this up to me. 343 wants to make money, if you have an issue let them know

If 343/Microsoft is generous enough to give credits for matches without having daily/weekly caps you can bet your favorite Mjölnir it will be much more grindy than 1% your match score.

Where did you get that they don’t want 343 to make money from what they wrote. I see 343 defenders all the time acting like anyone will a problem with the way things are wants 343 to go broke. But no one has asked for anything like that. If you read that post you’d see what they’re talking about still gives 343 plenty of ways to make money. Heck, right now the monetizing skipping the pass, and people it. People paid hundreds of dollars to skip the pass grind day one. You think people wouldn’t pay to skip having to getting out over 4000 matches?

I don’t know. They give a decent amount out through their rewards program. No reason they can’t do the same with Infinite, especially seeing as how you can use rewards points on credits.

I hope you’ll excuse me for being less optimist based on what we’ve seen so far from the store.

You thought the BP was overpriced?? Lol, dude, for $10 you get 100+ rewards, that’s less than $1 per item

Because you seem to think it is this system would be unlogical, I proved you wrong

I already proved this wrong in my previous post

I tweaked a few things to make it a little more fair to the players even and even then, you would need over 1k battles per season (much easier this season) to get enough credits from playing to buy everything.

I’m sorry to all the completionists out there, but 343 has no intention of players collecting every single cosmetic they release, unless players want to break out their wallet.The average player will only be interested in a few things.

At 1% plus participation plus wins (call it an average of 25 credits per match) it would take 80 games to get 2k credits (the usual weekly big bundle). The hardcore players can get this done in a day or 2. The heavy players in maybe a week, and the casual in maybe 3 weeks.

I don’t know about you, but if I can earn 2k credits in 2 weeks I would be able to collect every piece I am interested in, and more. I would have no reason to purchase anything, ever.

343 will want to give players just enough credits to give them a taste of the store, and break down the resistance to even open the door. They could do something similar to your plan, but I would imagine there would be a daily or weekly max a player could earn.

I’m sorry, you haven’t proven anything, you’ve given math based on assumptions (often fair assumptions, I’ll give you that), but the only proof we will ever get is when 343 tells us their plans. I hope you are right, I would love to actually unlock everything I want without making any purchases. I just think you are setting your expectations up a little high and you’ll eventually be disappointed.

Not if they change it to this system, they will actually gain more money this way, especially from whales

Tbch, I don’t think they will let us either but I still like to toss some ideas around. Like I said, this system would make them way more money than they will with the current system, most people are casuals and either don’t play a lot, or aren’t extremely good at the game. And also, most people prefer to pay to skip a grind than grind it out, otherwise games like War Thunder or World of Tanks, or any other game with a “premium” subscription system wouldn’t be able to thrive. Lord of the Rings Online, an MMO, gains money from people buying stuff, to skip a grind, and it is considered one of the most successful MMO’s out there.

With a system like this, they could simply get rid of the BP and instead just have a section that shows off all the new content for the season, which you can buy stuff for the season straight from that. Also could have certain objects require “premium” currency that can only be bought with money, these could be some of the more cool looking items and would entice people to buy them. If you’re so worried about people not spending money
