I’m exhausted, its been a long day of exam study, and a funny thought popped into my mind
What if when a player quits a ranked / competitive game mode, they are suspended from entering matchmaking until that game is done. That literally begs the question “Why not just stay, I’ll have to wait for the game to end anyways?” I guarantee this will lower rates of quitters by at least 10-20% (I know it would for me)
Anyways, food for thought haha.
Good nite forum,

-Actually real quick, how would you deal with quitters in such a way that it hasn’t already been done
-Try to keep it realistic but at the same time, efficient.

That would be a good way to cut back on the quitters, both the ones that just drop out of the game, and the ones who restart their Xbox. Yeah, I can understand quitting because you need to leave, but quitting because you don’t like the gametype or the map, or the other team, you don’t like that, go play customs, or vote.
not bad at all!!!
that wouldnt be too bad,
i still think ragequitter hell would be the best
whoever seems to be quitting lots gets put in there and must play a minimum of 3 games with other quitters before they can come back from hell =)

Good times, polyx, good times.
Sometimes people have good reasons to quit, so I don’t think this would be a good idea for first time quits, maybe after a certain amount, but not every game.

You can’t have a good reason to quit a game only to then instantly start up matchmaking again to fun another game. You can have a good reason to have to quit a game and not return say… someone on the phone… dinner is ready… need to vist the bog lol. By the time you have done those things then the game has finished anyway. If you just need to answer the phone/door quick, you wouldn’t quit.
There is no excuse for quiting a game and then instantly searching for a new one. Perhaps you are lagging bad? That’s the only one I can think of.
good times indeed lol
on another note i rly wanna hear the sparkast =( i hope we get it tomorrow
yesss troll/satanica music would do very nicely…also maybe they should be stripped of their armor …maybe ragequitter hell shouldnt even be multiplayer. it should be a long path with zombies trying to keep you there…and you have to get to the exit…but that seems too fun for hell…

Yes there is, if I was a recruit in a game and up against a team of General ranked people that were very good at the game, then I would not really want to stay, i’m not saying that it is right for them to quit straight away then, but if they are half way through the game and the score is 3 - 45 then I wouldn’t see much point in staying, and you may say “you” would stay but the majority of people would leave because it’s and unfair match. Also if the connection is playing up and you can barely move a few inches before it goes black screen for another 8 minutes then i’m pretty sure you would leave as soon as you got the chance so you could join a game with a better connection host.
IF you quit a ranked game, at least a team based gametype, you’ll loose rank/de-grade.
If you quit in social, you’ll loose “spartan points” and hence “social rank”. A little the first time, but more and more the more you quit and it’ll keep adding until say the end of the month.
New month, new chance to play or quit, but once again, the more you quit the more you’ll loose. If you have no “points” left, you’ll start loosing already unlocked items, and would hopefully even be put in a “quitters” playlists, where habitual quitters are forced to play with each other, only way to get out is to play a set number of games without quitting.

only problem with that is that the losers who are high level will spend their whole day quitting (because they have lives) and rank down 20 levels to fight the lower kids and just ruin the game for everyone (because they have lives)
Not a particularly great idea. You are needlessly punishing people who legitimately lag out.
The problem of dealing with quitters is a hard one, really, the best thing is to make it like Halo 3 - where you lose XP (or whatever the equivalent will be in Halo 4) - and incorporate Halo Reach’s ‘Quit Ban’ for ‘serial quitters’. It’s the most fair system IMO. Consistent quitters are punished, as well as consistent laggers (maybe they’ll bother to fix their connection while on a 15 minute probation). Additionally, the individual penalty for quitting out isn’t great but it would deter some, but it wouldn’t be overly harsh to people leaving for understandable reasons.
=)

I have to say. It’s brilliant. One of those ideas I can’t understand why noone has ever thought of before, simple, yet elegant.
Not to mention even if players reset their Xboxes, it would be a server-based ban, so they would still have to wait.
