I’m beginning to wonder if we’ll ever get back to actually fighting on a Halo. You know, those big ring things for which the game is named. We played extensively on Delta in H2. There was one mission in H3 and you couldn’t hardly see it unless you were willing stop your hog and risk dying. After that: nothing.
There is something awe-inspiring about the ring that made the first Halo so wonderful and adventurous. No other location thus far has been able to match it. I know it sounds trivial, but I want to get back to what made Halo Halo… literally.
I think it’s inevitable that we have another conflict on a Halo ring (I’ve got money on Installation 07).
Though visually, I liked Requiem better. Especially that part in the campaign where you first see the towers. I just stand there watching for who knows how long whenever I repeat that level.

Coming over that hill revealing that landscape; beautiful

I loved looking up at the sky and seeing the metal behind the blue…

Woow, I dont know that the game name come from the huge ring with artificial weather built by long time ago extinct, advanced race.
Just kiddin’
I don’t want the series to restrict itself just because of the name. I mean, sure, the Halo ring itself was only in a single mission in Halo 3, but considering you were playing on the arrays command centre, I’d say its presence was always felt. A lot of games suffer in the long run when they try to shoehorn in elements due to tradition or their name. Look at Metroid, they’ve had to come up with so many ways of reintroducing those things all to justify the game’s name. Or Metal Gear. Every single game has to force a massive nuclear tank in somewhere that you just know it’s going to get to a point of excess ridiculousness. Halo Wars already suffered to some extent by trying so hard to include all the elements of existing Halo games at the time. I’d rather not return to the rings themselves unless it naturally fits the narrative.
All of that said, I think it’s safe to say that you’ll get your wish. Recent Halo fiction has paved the way for the rings to return in full force.
You could say Halo 4 was still based around both the outcome of the war that created the rings, as well had you walking around a rejected alternative to the rings.
Of course, like many things, it wasn’t explained in the game.
Some way, the rings will come back into the picture. Look at Nightfall

This is a reasonable thing to say and I’ve been keeping my hopes within the confines of your logic. I’ve fallen behind in reading the books, but your prediction has me giddy with anticipation.

Gotta agree 100%, though I wanna say we’ll fight on 7 and another one.
