Funny thing I noticed in H4's mission "Composer"

Early on in the mission aboard Ivanoff Station you can hear a member of the security personal say “A Spartan? How many of you are there?”. I always thought this was odd as what other spartan could he be referring to? Couldn’t be the IVs as the Infinity never went to Ivanoff Station.* However I just thought, could he actually be referring to Black Team? They were on Installation 03 after all during this time. Seems too perfect for it not to be a coincidence.

Its just odd because Halo Escalation Issue 8 that revealed Black Team being on the ring didn’t come out til a year and a half after Halo 4.

*Nevermind. I forgot that the Infinity had been to Ivanoff prior to going to Requiem.

A lot of time, whole stories are laid out years in advanced. At least key plot points. Just all the writing and fluff is made during the actual development

Wasn’t Infinity at Ivanoff right before it went to Requiem?

Correct. Dr Tilson mentioned that the UNSC Infinity moved the composer from Gamma Halo to Ivanoff station.

The Infinity had been there earlier and also Spartan iv’s are not exclusive to Infinity. They are stationed in other locations too, the Infinity is just the most prominent.

plus there are a total of maybe 500 active spartans of varying type. They are also usually deployed in squads, so its not an odd question to ask if there were more with chief.

I always thought he meant how many spartans are at the station. I mean, when you are on a station without any real security a Super-Soilder is not the thing you’d expect to see even when under attack.

Either she was talking about some unnamed S-IVs or Black Team. I would like to believe she was referring to Team Black, which, considering 343I’s effort in keeping the Expanded Universe and the games themselves close, would make sense and would be a very nice detail.

It could also be that, them being ONI, they know enough to know the difference between the older models and the IV’s. Marveling at seeing any of them left.

Maybe they assumed more would be coming upon seeing a Spartan running around.

They were panicking for their lives. After hearing Chief was miraculously there after being gone for four years, I’ll bet the first thoughts that entered their heads were if he had support. I mean it’s not out of the question for them given their circumstances.

Despite there being a lot more Spartans than previous programs, there are only several hundred Spartan-IVs. Compared to a military that likely is tens of millions strong, that’s practically zero.
