Halo 5 has been out over a year, at release I remember seeing many threads on here, and elsewhere, about many things that just make no sense when you think about them today.
A common complaint was how clamber would make crouch jumping obsolete, and how trick jumping in Halo 5 would be dead. Well anyone who has tried to master the trick jumps on maps like Truth, Fathom, or Regret will tell you those are clearly false. There are crouch jumps all over the place, and trick jumping has never been deeper than it is in Halo 5.
Another one was how easy it was to aim in Halo 5, and how it takes no skill to shoot. I saw this all the time, the main scapegoat was the sniper, but most people, even pro’s like Frosty, have about a 50% accuracy rate with the sniper. 40-60% accuracy with any wep is considered normal in Halo 5, so clearly its not that easy if even the best players in the world are missing around half their shots.
So I ask you fellow Halo fans and waypoint goers, what’s your favorite Halo 5 myth that’s been dispelled with time? And if you were one of those people that complained about something that turned out to be just salt, misunderstanding, or whatever; has your view of Halo 5 changed at all?
One that has been around since 4…
That sprint is game breaking. Halo has moved on and we’re not going back. You can either try to contribute positively to the community or you can continue to complain fruitlessly.
(“you” does not refer to OP but general people)
The myth that there was no issues with kill detection. Then I managed to find 3 different kill detection glitches.

Just a quick question. What exactly are the benefits of sprint? I see people constantly talking about how ridiculous it is for people to dislike sprint so I’m curious as to what the irrefutable benefits are.
Increases the pace of the game. Makes it possible to escape power weapons. You can get back into the game faster after you die.
Edit: I appreciate your right to an opinion. Although I disagree my main problem is how some people just seem to be complaining pointlessly creating a negative atmosphere in some forums.

So why is a faster game inherently good?

While I am on the fence regarding sprint, a faster game is better for me because it makes the game more intense and more fun. Halo 3, while fun, was so slow. I have no desire for Halo to go back to being that slow, it was irritating.

It’s not. Just makes it feel better for the new generation.
Redacted, don’t care anymore.

Maybe not sprint speed, but somewhere between sprint and walking.
Redacted, don’t care anymore.

How about not hijacking this thread to talk about sprint? Any thoughts on the OP?
I originally said I would never buy a Req pack. I gave in and bought voices of war pack. I thought Req packs would be a serious detriment to the game. I have since accepted them, and have enjoyed the free DLC that has come with them.

Yeah, I know. I was just really curious. Since I don’t have anything important to add, I won’t post in here anymore.
Crouch jumping has been lost though, there is no way that h5 deepens it when clambor guarantees you won’t fall off.
The thing about the aiming is it’s a yes and no thing. It’s very easy to aim due to increased magnetism and larger hit boxes. It’s harder because of heavy aim input being so inconsistent though.
many complaints from launch have been resolved but many still linger. Still no oddball or king if the hill, a terrible playlist setup still hurting the game, lack of actual dev maps for btb, I could go on.
@everyone on the sprint subject, I’d take it to the sprint thread so the ops post doesn’t get locked due to a sprint argument. There’s pages upon pages of explanations for both sides as well if there are any questions.

You are aware of the Sprint Discussion Thread, right?
The myth that came out of my head is “343 made multiplayer canon so they have an excuse to remove playable elites”.

Yes, but he brought up sprint so I felt my initial response was appropriate.
Well they’re not completely wrong. It’s not obsolete, but I’d bet it’s been significantly reduced. I hardly ever crouch jump anymore. I don’t remember seeing threads where they said trick jumping would be dead, but a lot of it involves other abilities as well as crouch jumping.
If it wasn’t for the awful aiming that 343 introduced because Ghost said it felt ‘squirrelly’, it wouldn’t be hard at all to aim in this game aside from the pistol. Obviously it takes skill to shoot, but 343 helped in that department by adding lots of magnetism to the sniper which is why it’s a prime example. Go play with H3’s sniper and you’ll see how night and day the difference is. Basing ease of use for a weapon off of one person isn’t accurate at all, but going off your example, Frosty is also playing against top players who aren’t easy to shoot against and he still has a 50% accuracy rate.
Still trying to remember what things people were wrong about at the beginning besides sprint being good, but can’t think of anything at the moment. Maybe people liking spartan charge is one, but both of those things weren’t complaints.
One myth that I remember quite well was that Halo 5 was going to have a good campaign.
I definitely agree about jumping/movement… Stabilize “Ghandi-mash” clambers are Crouch jumping x10.
Only thing that would add to their difficulty is requiring manual Stabilize for all players and making the jumps themselves riskier… over a death pit or something, requiring your timing to be absolutely correct.
That’s one thing I want to see in H6, riskier movement, where skilled players are tested further in terms of using Spartan Abilities to hit high-level jumps.
