Fun/Non-Scoring Skulls

I was just wondering about the fun skulls, such as Bandana and Feather, that are currently used in the MCC for Halo 1 & 2. Will these skulls make their way to Infinite? I would love it if they did. It completely opens up the game in new and really funny ways. Anything you can share would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Totally agree. Those non scoring skulls were awesome.

I kind of hope they add every FPS Halo skull that’s ever existed, and then double that number. Make LASO into a real… Something.

Yeah, I love playing with Grunt Birthday Party as well as Sputnik on non vehicular missions. It’s just really fun.

I’ve put out an idea for a Traitor Skull based on a bug I ran into in CE. I think it would be a lot of fun. I hope someone from 343 comes across one of my posts or tweets about it.

Yeah, a better distribution of fun skulls would be great. H2 had a good mix of fun and difficulty, with some difficulty skulls even conferring advantages (i.e. overshields, every Elite being an Ultra = free swords). Ever since H3, the skulls have been too one-sidedly about difficulty.

Tough Luck was awfully redundant in H3 since the AI already dove like ninjas, and with unrealistically sped up animations to boot. Shielded Jackals furnish the best example. They suddenly went from slow moving turtles to free-flying escape artists. Then we got introduced to their cousins, who were even more ridiculously agile. Tough Luck did have an interesting side effect which increased the chances of enemies doing kamikaze/berserking. Tilt was simply atrocious to play with (especially when coupled with Mythic), only need it for vehicle combat and some launches (increased vehicle durability), otherwise it’s a severe liability for melee combat and when using UNSC weapons.

CEA and H2A finally added more fun skulls, but unfortunately didn’t factor in the effect it’d have on scoring/leaderboards/SLASO, which cheapens these experiences (but it’s amusing to watch skull runs I’ll admit. Feather has also been received well in H2A tricking last I checked). Hopefully Halo Infinite will account for this.

As for a fun skull I’d like to see, how about a skull which restores classic animations for enemies i.e. Halo trilogy Elite berserk, the slower Elite nade throw. Also restoring long lost abilities for Elites, such as leaping melee and sword pull (not armor lock tho).

At the very least I wish for Elite Zealots to receive proper treatment, which were sidelined in H2/H3 (they had normal shielding and were shells of their former selves, hardly intimidating. While they never even made an appearance as a corpse in the crashed ship unlike Ultras) and have been confused with SpecOps ever since Reach. A Goldie skull would bring them back in a modified Elite Combat harness (with a badass headdress), possibly replacing Generals.

And I propose a skull tweak: Fog skull should remove not only the motion sensor, but also the crosshair and perhaps some superfluous HUD elements (that distracting stuff people were complaining about in H4), which would make it closer to the simplistic design of the Halo trilogy HUDs.

Isn’t that already possible through betrayals in most cases? Usually means 1-2 less allies turned enemies, but no significant losses. On the other hand, on Easy, allies are extremely forgiving, which can make battles against them too brief while they’re too lethal on harder difficulties. So this skull idea could be justified. I can see that skull working for missions which immediately hurl you into combat alongside marines (i.e. on SC, DH, Covie, ONI Base, TotS), but then it’s more of a non-scoring skull than a fun one. I think there’s a lot of merit to choosing when you want your allies to turn on you. Such as on Crow’s, where you have the liberty of pushing a bunch of NPCs around in advance and taking an unarmed Johnson as “hostage” to deter nade spam from the marines (usually done on Coop).

If you’re proposing that the skull be implemented for previously existing Halo games, then you should also suggest that 343i do something about the obscene insta kill capability of story NPCs (i.e. 343GS, Arby, Johnson, Noble Team). It wouldn’t be a fair fight otherwise.

I personally didn’t have much fun escorting Keyes, even when he didn’t turn against me. He kept blowing himself up.

I think all the skulls we have in the MCC should be in Infinite. Heck. Make the fun skulls collectable in the Campaign like in Halo 3, and like in Reach, keep the main skulls usable for all. OR make them all findable, doesn’t matter to me as long we get all the skulls the MCC has in Infinite.

I, personally would like to see a “Fiesta” Skull that randomizes all weapons for everyone in every game modes that can use skulls, like the Campaign, or Firefight, ect. Players start out with different weapons, and gets different weapons each time they respawn, and all enemies and allies have different weapons, each time you play. I think that would be a fun addition for Halo Infinite.
