Fun Factor = gone

I hate to say it, but I’m already done with having fun in Halo 4. I think 343 really dropped the ball and in their attempt to refresh the series strayed too far from Halo’s classical roots. The things that made previous Halo games great are not present in 4. The added complexity of the loadouts and perks do not make the game fun, it creates frustration at least for me.

Halo 3 and previous games did not have all these extra features, and I found them to be much more fun. It’s hard to explain, and I probably can’t articulate my thoughts right now, but I feel that Halo needs to return to the simple era. Everyone was on equal footing, the game was balanced, maps were good, etc etc. Currently, the DMR is better than any other precision weapon and is the best non power weapon in my opinion. This gun is way too powerful to be a starter weapon and it needs to be nerfed or this will turn into a one gun game like Reach. Any map that has open space will be won by the team with the most DMR camo campers.

The ordnance drops are detrimental to the Halo style. They eliminate the need for map control and that takes away any game direction and flow. Most matches are just giant clusterfucks of people running around mindlessly because there isn’t a common point that needs to be controlled. Plasma pistols and sticky grenades are too powerful to be put into a loadout. Vehicles at this point are near useless because of the fact that almost everyone is using a plasma pistol and stickies. You don’t even need a power weapon(which are given out like candy with the ordnance system) to take out a tank or a heavy vehicle, not to mention the fact that the DMR is an anti everything rifle. The playlists are incredibly limited and the population is already spread thin. The maps are extremely lackluster and boring.

The server lag is getting ridiculous for a game with so few players, most DMR duels come down to who has the better connection. 343 also refuses to respond to the community about specific issues such as the DMR, the glitches on maps, server lag, splatter physics, etc etc. Join in progress is quite possibly the biggest offender on my list of things that make Halo 4 bad. I cannot tell you how many times I have joined a regicide match that was almost over. The matchmaking sucks too. They need to add a 1-50 ranking system. I unfortunately do not see myself playing Halo 4 much longer and sure as hell not long enough to see the map packs I already bought. I’m so far extremely disappointed in Halo 4 and I truly feel like I wasted $100+.

Well right now I’m enjoying the game very much so, but I’m saddened that not everyone is happy with Halo 4, hopefully 343 can help you guys out and create a playlist for you. I’d hate to see anyone feel they must abandon Halo because of this latest installment.

Good luck, and constructive criticism is always the anwser to get your voice heard!

I concur ?

I have to agree. I’ve only played like a hundred War Games, and I’m already prepared to pop Reach back into my disc tray.

Bored as well

I seemed to be getting bored as well but still love the game it confuses me

Back when Halo 3 was current I would go to my friends house every day after school and we would just splitscreen online for 2-3 hours and it was a blast. I just wish this game had the same fun factor that Halo 2-3 did.

I find all the new features a lot of fun. I got bored of the previous Halo games due to repetitiveness.

I agree with the OP on this one. While you may see me posting about how useful AC is, the game is much better without AAs. They added so much unneeded complexity to an already fun and established game.

I can understand the argument that the company needs to keep things fresh, but I don’t think that AAs were really necessary.

I would also like to add that I agree 200% about the sticky grenades and plasma pistols. Most people considered them to be useless (the PP that is), but it’s truly invaluable in BTB and DMR + PP combo. Stickies are, in my opinion, closer to a power weapon than a standard weapon. What should be done is make them not standard, increase their blast radius (which sucks right now, only kills if stuck) and make them a more rare spawn. Or, with the direction 343 is going, a ordinance drop.

anyone else feel bored already?

They already have your money = mission accomplished.

In 2 years you will be expecting a real Halo game - with all the fun gametypes and balance - in Halo 5.

Sadly, you will just get another Call of Duty clone. Don’t expect any original ideas from 343. Their main goal is to widen the market appeal for the Halo franchise.

It really never was about the fans.

What new - ORIGINAL AND CREATIVE - ideas are in Halo 4? The answer is none.

I know what you mean.
Back in Halo 1/2, it was just up, down, left, right, jump and shoot.
The addition of equipment in Halo 3 was fine, though.

Halo: Reach completely changed the way Halo was played.

I dunno. So far it’s a lot more fun than Reach.

IMO,

Campaign - somewhat fun
Spartan Ops - not fun

I still enjoy this game, but it could have been sooooooooo much better if it just stayed true to the classic Halo formula. I hate how the majority of the playlists are just simple slayer variants (the objective playlists are lacking). I hate how in big team everyone has some sort of power weapon. I hate instant respawn. I hate how the maps do not contain any power weapons outside of the initial ones, this allows for a team to just sit back in their base and camp because there are no power weapons on the maps. I better with my hate list but I can keep going, I just hope that they make a Halo game for the Halo fans next time.

halo was meant to be a game that you play hear and there for fun not something you play hard core for weeks. that’s why they only release game types every week and spartan ops every week. its meant to be a game that you pace your self with. if you had pace your self with it and not played it hard core im sure it would still be a blast because there is new stuff coming out every week you just dont have any patchiness

i have low expectations for halo 5 after halo 4. i don’t think they can get any worse in any aspect of the game. so if halo 5 is good i’ll be happy compared to halo 4 where i expected a lot and instead got the worse halo.

I love how people complain about the launch playlists. Its been the same for every halo released.

The game was released two weeks ago.

It gets better.

People are forging maps right now, that will be included in the first title update.

Dlc is being made.

Network optimizations will be made.

Weapons will get balanced. The dmr is overpowered i agree. They are working on it. They made the kill time .02 seconds longer last update. It will be refined more. If all you play is btb switch to standard slayer. The br and carbine become relevant again. The boltshot is also overpowered, seriously a one hit kill starting secondary? Really? Thats even worse than the dmr. And yet noone complains abot that. It will be balanced

Have some faith, and stop whineing.

So I’ve got to wait even longer for the game I want to be born out of this alpha build of a great game? Nonsense.
