Fully Customisable Control Schemes

In halo and most other first-person shooters there are always set control schemes (button layouts, stick layouts, etc.) but it isn’t entirely out of the realm of possibility to let us make our own button layouts. Now we know this exists on PC already but does it exist on consoles? Is it possible on consoles? It is actually, in fact, Dead By Daylight actually did this on the console version as well as PC version.
If we had this along with presets, people wouldn’t need to use the built-in Xbox Accessories app to reconfigure their controllers on an operating system level just to get the control scheme they want.

Anyone got opinions? I’d love to hear them :))

Thats how they make $$$ selling the elite controller. I dont see this happening as much as id like to see it.

This is true although I would like to see this it was one of my favorite features of borderlands 2 when it came out. I would love to see halo add this.

Of course it’s, well, would be possible on console, or else the Elite pad couldn’t be customizable either in first place. But even the Elite is fairly restrictive compared to what you can do on Windows and Linux machines.

On PC I use a freeware called AntiMicro for example, the user-interface ain’t the most comfortable out there and doesn’t look as good as the MS software, but you can set and program every imaginable button-combo you can think off and change the input based on how long you press a button. You can safe as many presets as you want as well (basically one for every single game), and the setting for the sticks are way more in depth too considering that you can divide their input based on the level of the tilde, when pressed or not, dead zone and so on. Vampire the Masquerade and Halo 5 Forge were a blast to set up and to play with it, I can tell you!^^ Another of many reasons for why I prefer PC gaming over console frankly: you can mod and personalize almost everything as long as you put the time into it!

At the same time not having those option is exactly what many console players want. You don’t want to put the work into it, you don’t have the time or patience? Consoles are as straight forward as this things go, even in this almost always online wacky generation. Playing on Xbox is simple and fast. Put the disk into it, the console basically does the installation work for you and than a series of presets for controls and input mechanics are presented to chose from without having to read a instruction book about it beforehand. Plus limitations means that everybody plays with the same set of options.

Personally though I hated every single game that forced me to sprint by pressing the left stick. For me it has to be the most uncomfortable and -Yoink!- method to use such a basic mechanic. Therefore needless to say I hope Xbox Scarlet introduces a software where you can personalize all buttons of the normal pad as well. It would be a great addition imho!

If only this app for Xbox Scarlet that you hope for could change things on an operating system level but still push that information to software, that would be great
