Full Teams vs solo/duo parties

So, I’m kind of wondering what the deal is. A friend and I tried to jump into the Halo 2 BR Slayer playlist, and things were fine at first. Teams were balanced, if annoyingly mismatched in the sense that our team mates didn’t seem to understand that the teamshot is everything there. But after the first half hour or so the entire night’s devolved into a string of losses that are, best as I can tell, the result of our team being composed of two randoms and our two player party against full teams of four. We even ran into an actual clan that was indisputably part of a full fireteam.

So what’s going on here?

As I was led to believe by the August update this shouldn’t be happening anymore. I distinctly remember reading that the new algorithm supposedly focuses on matching solo players against other solo players, and incomplete parties against the like. Team playlists had been suffering from the issue of full, coordinated fireteams being unfairly matched against solo players for a while, and 343 posted an update to correct the problem. I understand that it still matches full fireteams against mismatched ones when no other matches can be found, but in this particular instance it’s the featured playlist. I can’t believe that there aren’t any other two player teams and solo players running around in here, so why do we keep getting matched against odds that heavily favor the enemy team?

That August update is completely misleading, it only TRIES to match parties vs parties etc. And it doesn’t try for very long, like 40 seconds and then gives up. It technically changed nothing cause it’s not like we were finding matches in under 40 seconds before August.

That also only works if you put it on focused.

Like was already mentioned, that only works if you’re searching for a game and join a match before 40 seconds of search time. After that, you run the risk of getting put against full teams if you don’t restart the search.

Also doesn’t help when the randoms don’t want to communicate or don’t have mics at all. If you can, try talking to your temammates and see if they reply. Being able to talk and make callouts with your team could help even things up for you when going against full fireteams.

Another one of misleading promises made by 343. I have the same problem too but mine also involves being paired with stupid randoms or newcomers against experienced players
