Full auto Battle Rifle???? WTF

Last night during a match of Infinity Slayer there was this one guy killing me extremely quickly on Haven. Normally I don’t watch killcams as I wanna get back in the action ASAP but I decided to see what the hell was he doing. So to my utter surprise, when I did watch the replay of my death, he was shooting the BR full auto, just like the AR.
What in the hell is this? Is this a glitch? Was he cheating somehow? I’ll have to check his gamertag tonight, hope I can still find the game in theater mode…
So have any of you guys encountered something like this before?

Kill-cams are nearly never accurate. Otherwise people have been killing me without even looking at me.

Welcome to the realisation that the BR is just as powerful as it used to be, and everyone whining about the DMR has just not gotten over Reach yet. It’s the poor AR and co that get the short, spiky end of the stick here…I see way more BR spam than DMR.

It’s what happens when you increase the RoF and projectile speed.

That’s happened to me also OP. Not sure if it’s the messed up kill cams or people cheat and use Turbo controllers for full auto on any gun. My gut tells me it’s people using turbo controllers because the kill cam doesn’t always reflect such a high rate of fire of the BR, most of the time the kill cam is normal for me.

the answer is… modded controllers that uses rapid fire. it’s a controller made for noobs and try-hards only. report them for cheating!!!

Turbo controllers can’t just magically make the BR’s rate of fire faster. Sit there and slam the R trigger as fast as you can. You’ll still only be able to fire at the maximum BR RoF.

Actually making the BR full auto would require hacking the game. My guess is that it was an inaccurate killcam (i.e. ALL killcams) or there’s some new button glitch surfacing. My money is on the killcam though.

Kill cam lag.

Or modded controller.

The BR has a fixed rate of fire, and the killcams are currently glitchy.

if you want to know what really happened, go to theater mode instead of watching the kill cam.

Apparently nobody knows how a modded controller works.

Modded controllers don’t work like that, guys. Also, Halo 2 button glitches are back apparently. BxR, Double Shot, Double Melee, all that good stuff. The guy could have been quad-shotting.

> the answer is… modded controllers that uses rapid fire. it’s a controller made for noobs and try-hards only. report them for cheating!!!

A fixed rate of fire negates the purpose of a rapid fire controller…

Modded controllers don’t affect ingame events such as the rate of fire for the BR. The BR has a fixed rate of fire, which cannot shoot faster then intended no matter how many times the button is pushed (which is what a modded controller does; rapidly pushes the button you desire to inhumane speeds).

When I go online later tonight I will surely look for that match in theater mode and report that guy. I’m telling you, my eyes weren’t deceiving me: it was either a glitch of the killcam or he was somehow cheating: there was NO stop between the bursts, it was firing just like the AR, full auto. I stood there speechless for a couple of seconds.
And the thing that makes me believe he was cheating is because he was killing me way way faster than what I’m used to. Compare it to the SAW close range if you will, something like that.

> Apparently nobody knows how a modded controller works.

Apparently you don’t either. It doesn’t work on weapons like the battle rifle when it has a fix ROF.

They don’t work to increase the set rate of fire, no, you can’t normally use one to do so (in Reach for instance, they’re practically worthless).

But a macro controller can be programmed to a set of button presses, at very specific timings.

Since Halo 4 has button combos to ‘double shot’ ala halo 2, they program the controller to do that combo. Now, just firing the trigger does all the work for them instead of actually needing to perform the combo themselves.

Meaning they’ll do it every single time. People used to do the same thing in Halo 2 instead of being really good at double shotting, and since doing the combo over and over perfectly basically makes it automatic, that’s what I believe this is.

A ‘rapid fire’ controller wouldn’t do crap, which is the type of modded controller most people think about.

Report him, he hacker. Always report suspected hax.

I have seen this happen in a kill cam once due to a frame rate drop.

The cam started then froze for a few seconds, followed by everything that happened during it at super speed. This made it appear the BR was automatic.

But, you know, it was probably something else. Or it was what I said. Or it wasn’t. And stuff.

Exactly.

I honestly think it wasn’t full-auto, it was a glitch from the kill cam. I’ve seen a few different people who appear in the kill cam to have a fully auto Light Rifle…but I think I would have noticed if there were that many red beams of light flying at me. I suspect it has something to do with burst fire in the kill cam.
