In Halo 5 I’ve notice that you can only change a set body piece and a helmet when you customize your spartan character. I just wished you can change everything like how Halo: Reach or how Halo 4 had it. I don’t know why this is the type of customization we get if this was a flagship title. I just hope they add this feature back in another update or something, if they ever though.
I wish, but they are not doing anymore updates. But maybe it it was added to mcc in a couple years…
The reason for why it wasn’t a thing may upset you. It was all due to Warzone. Ok, maybe not COMPLETELY, but it was still a major factor. Someone on Reddit managed to customize armor pieces individually in H5 Forge, indicating that, yes, it’s possible. However, since H5 has some… traces of older Halos (such as Reach’s spawning hologram), it may just be there due to the previous games.
If you’re confused by what I mean, allow me to explain in proper detail (and I hope I didn’t get too far in what I wrote)
Dual-wield was removed from Reach, right? Not totally. Through modding, it’s possible to connect the second weapon to your left hand, and use it as a dual-wieldable gun, even disabling grenades, although the hand’s position will remain unaffected (meaning the weapons will phase through one another). This remained even in H5, curious enough. Through a glitch (overloading), you can get, for example, a Prophet’s Bane on your left hand while holding a regular Energy sword on your right hand.
This happens because every new Halo title simply used a heavily modified version of the previous game’s engine (the BLAM! engine). Since Infinite will more or less be in a new one, these “legacy” features or leftovers may disappear completely.
What it really comes down to is the rewards system. The way you earn REQs, weapons, and armor is all the same system, so they probably decided to limit the armor customization options to be limited to just the head and body to streamline the reward system. I wish they had separated armor and cosmetic progression from the REQ system and allow customization like in Reach for each players Spartan.
you used to be able to spin the player model around 3d, but now it is 2d and he just stands there
It will probably never happen in h5 because of the way the current system works - but I think they’ve said that infinite will have a similar customization to reachs way of doing things. That comes out later this year, so we don’t have TOO long to wait
