FROM THE BEGINNING
YOU KNOW THE END
These were the first words we saw when we saw the Halo Reach Teaser Trailer.
We were told we were getting a game, and we already knew what would happen.
We knew that Spartans were defending Reach
We knew the Covenant would attack in numbers
We knew that Reach would fall, and fall it did.
Whilst this is a descent story telling method, I like to compare this with the knowledge we have about Halo 4, about the same time from release, as the teaser in relative to Reach.
Beyond Halo 3, we know nothing.
Beyond the end of the Human-Covenant war, we know nothing.
We don’t know what will happen in Halo 4. Just as the original trilogy was built.
Whilst Halo’s novels and other aspects that build the huge universe that is Halo are amazing, I think the games should lead into space, lead into stories we’ve never heard before, whilst the other content should clarify, enrich and fulfill the gaps that the games leave void.
I have great faith in 343i for the continuance of a great universe. To build depth and breadth into a universe that is almost as detailed as our very own.
The point of discussion? Story. Campaign. Events, and techniques.
Do you believe that Halo will boldly go where no Halo has gone before, explore the unexplored? Or do you think the campaign will bring us back to familiar territory?
I am ever so curious.
