Friends can't join in progress games....

This is taken straight from the weekly bulletin.

2.“Friends are not allowed to join a game in progress. Only random players searching through Matchmaking can join during that 60-second window.”

343 you never seize to amaze me…

So if I disconnect from my freinds in a game I can’t re-join them and instead I am replaced by a random…

Like seriously whats the point of join in-progress now???

I assume this was to prevent friends from joining when someone on the other team quits so CSR could be calculated a lot more accurately without people boosting.

I can see your issue, but I see this as a better change than anything.

We’d all be complaining if they didn’t do this, and people abused the system/loophole to cheat.

As Moa said, this is much better than what it could be.

It does seem to be a nice solution to the host-booting problem. And maybe to prevent any kind of boosting using join in progress.

I just wonder If I still will get the win if a player on the other team boots me and everyone on my team currently playing out, and gets us replaced by other players. If you got kicked out in Halo 3 and your team still won, it would still award you the win and increase your truskill-rank.

I will definetly get grumpy if I won’t get it (because I have spent time and helped the team to win the game), but then again if all players participating in the game either ranks up or down. You could just bring a friend you would like to boost in the game, let him quit and replaced - then win the game.

From the bulletin:

If you leave early once a match has started, it treats it as if you were the lowest rank in the match for the individual-scored playlists and as a loss on the team-scored playlists.

I assume this will still be the case if someone is kicked out via illegal activities and other stuff.

Can you link me the bulletin please? For my own part (and to form an opinion), I need more information on how this system will work first.

"That said, in our selected, more competitive playlists, there will be rules in place to mitigate the effect. Namely:

You can only join in progress during a small window of time in the beginning of the match, so those players will still have time to contribute meaningfully to the match."

So you join in progress only works until 1 minute has passed in-game, in the 7 ranked playlists (A good fix for people who can’t load a map and gets booted out)

I assume the other playlists will have a very weak true-skill rating, maybe something like the Halo 3 social playlists? Where about everyone can achieve the highest CSR.

One wouldn’t really put “Join in progress” in FFA if the playlist was supposed to be hardcore(which requires fairness)… Simply because of all the weapons the rest of the players have managed to acquire at the time you have not been there since you joined in the middle of a game - Something that is likely in an 8 player free for all game.

After thinking a lot about it now, I have come to the conclusion that unless every win in the “Team based” playlist gets treated differently it will be relatively easy to level up, or simply impossible in some playlists.
