Friendly Fire

So recently I have come across a few incidents whilst playing arena matches, some were accidental, that’s fine with me. But there has also been a number of incidents where I am purposely killed by a team mate, like this one for example: I went to play a Breakout match on Trident (Or whatever it was called, I suck at names), so it goes all peachy and smoothly but after round 3 I went to go pick up the battle rifle laying against the wall. I aim down my scope to locate the enemy and see if I can pick off a few of them and all of a sudden I get shoulder charged in the back causing an instantaneous kill. It was my own team mate and he picks up the battle rifle and runs off (NOTE: This is at the start of the round). This annoyed me and we also lost the round. Pretty stupid reason to kill your team mate over right? Sorry if it was “your” gun. There were a few other cases somewhat like this afterwards but I won’t go into further detail.

I wish 343 would make either a separate setting whilst searching for a match to turn off friendly fire, or cast a vote before the match (even though there is no actual lobby any more). It does give the game a realistic feel and tries to make you aim better and get more accurate but it seems like a bit of a nuisance. Maybe leave grenade and melee friendly fire out?

Anyone else have any friendly fire incidents?

Yes. I’m sure pretty much everyone has dealt with intentional betrayals. No. There should not be a no-friendly fire option in ranked playlists. Team-killing -Yoink- exist. Report them and move on and/or play with a party. It’s the best you’re going to get.

I meant for non-ranked playlists. But anyway, thanks for ending this topic.

I’ve had a few throw grenades to get my weapons, can be irritating when actually trying to shoot the enemy.

The simple fix is to offer the betrayed player the option to boot the betrayer every single time it happens, instead of just offering the option sometimes, usually after several betrayals. People have objected to this idea in the past because they’re afraid they would get the boot for legitimate accidents. I’d like to think that a betrayed player would know the difference between an accidental betray and an intentional betrayal, but even if he couldn’t and even if he booted a good guy who made an honest mistake in the heat of battle… that situation is far more preferable to me than allowing one single solitary instance where some kid kills me for a weapon and gets to walk away without any consequence whatsoever.
