Friendly Fire in BTB

Really, is there anyway for them to take this out? I accidentally killed a teammate while in a tank and got booted for defending our Flag Carrier… Friendly Fire just shouldn’t be in BTB.

Same teammate killed me twice at the start of my last game for no apparent reason. Then a few minutes after, I went for an epic flag steal I was betrayed by a different guy right before the capture. Bring on the customs with forge, FF will be off.

lol I got betrayed for a sniper

You guys know all those people saying halo needs to adapt or evolve to live with new FPS market? This is one the things that should actually change - friendly fire is an archaic mechanic that does more harm than good.

In Halo 5, friendly fire is not. It just promotes teamkilling, and this game makes it so easy to do so.

Other then accidental splatters in a ghost (which I will admit you can just TAP a teammate and they die) any other betrayal can generally be avoided.

In a game like halo turning off FF in a ranked setting would be disastrous as it can be exploited from that point forward with a myriad of scenarios that wouldn’t work if FF was on. One example? Sending someone through a chokepoint with a FULL compliment of grenades at their feet.

If you shot an enemy flag guy and a teammate was right behind him why did you shoot, especially if you got booted that means you’ve betrayed someone else before that.

It does harm due to operator error. Nothing more.

I believe I accidentally killed someone while in a tank, but thought FF was off. I assume that I hit their Warthog and they died from the explosion, is this kind of FF do-able, so as to avoid this next time?

It has gotten so bad recently, that players are learning how much FF you can deal without killing your teammate. like watching the shield drop and taking some health, so you’re forced to cover and you cant move or else the enemy has an easy kill. like CTF on Truth, they turn and pump you full of an assault rifle, and the enemies are popping off pistol shots, you die 3-4 times before the game even really starts. I believe it should be turned off for a trial run and then left on or off depending on the game mode.

I get betrayed all the time for power weapons. I usually just end up trolling the crud out of em’ but turning FF off in btb games would be better. If anything minimize the ff damage to like 25% or something. But either way it need as to be changed

it prevents bad play being rewarded. you can’t shoot through your teammate into an enemy, that doesnt play good and doesnt work well in halo. halo 4 tried it and they immediately changed it back because of all the backfire. warzone is huge so it makes more sense, but in BTB and arena there will always be friendly fire. its about coordination and teamwork. yes people betray for weapons but it doesnt happen every game. and if it has happened every game for a few for someone then imsorry, that sucks, I’ve been there. its not enough reason to turn it off. like i said they tried it, the community hated it in halo 4, so they aren’t going tot make away friendly fire. it doesnt work.

lol, 1100 games here, not one single game i had a problem with FF. never been betrayed for power weapon, never got booted for betrays altough they happen. and thats a good thing. watch your steps. taking out FF in Halo would be the worst decusion ever made. if you dont like it, move on to some casual games.

I love the lack of friendly fire in Warzone, but why is it in Arena? What is the point? It shouldn’t be possible to hurt a teammate, and also allies shouldn’t be able to EMP each other in vehicles, or splatter each other, there are too many accidental splatters, at least give allies resistance to being splattered.

Then stick with warzone and dont try to change a core element of Halo’s gameplay.

Friendly fire should be off in every single mode outside of custom games turning it on, and that includes damage to and from vehicles. It should be literally impossible to harm a teammate in any way, other than the bad luck of collision causing one or both of you to fall off the map. It seems like such an obvious improvement, the fact that they left friendly fire on makes me wonder if they think trolling and grieving is funny.

So much wrong in this thread I don’t even know where to begin! Stop being so freakin careless! How’s that for an improvement to the game?

Friendly fire is a huge part of Halo. IMO, It’s one of the tings that still makes Halo what it is. It keeps power weapons in check for one thing.

Take it out of BTB! People kill me all of the time for the sniper, and it pisses me off to no end! I was once in the middle of a triple kill, and a guy on my team betrayed me right before I could kill the third guy, just so he could get the sniper, (You can even watch the proof right here: Gamer DVR - Xbox clips, Twitch clips and streams, Xbox screenshots, Xbox videos, Xbox DVR and more on Gamer DVR!). In another game, I was playing on Deadlock, and one kid tried to kill me just for the DMR, and the only thing that stopped him was the DMR spawning right before he was about to kill me. Then, either in that same life, or soon after, the same kid punched a kid in the back twice just to use THE CHAINGUN! Anyone who’s played on Deadlock knows that thing is next to worthless! Not to mention that there is no real punishment for doing so. So what? You get booted? Who cares, just join another game and do it again. It also annoys me when a friend and I are just cruising around in a warthog, when some fool has to run out in front of me and get splattered! Don’t get me wrong, I completely understand the point in Arena, and it is rarely ever a problem for me, but BTB is unranked, and it’s supposed to be casual and FUN! To tell you the truth, BTB is my favorite game mode, but having people kill me just to get the sniper, (which they often end up completely wasting lol), sort of ruins it for me.
