so I just realised that the librarian placed the Didact in his cryptum on requiem to allow him to awake with a want to help humanity does anyone think that redemption story could happen? what are your thoughts on the fundamental possibility (abet be it a difficult one)
Not redemption, reclamation.
The Ur-Didact was transformed into a puppet of the Gravemind with all of his prejudices exacerbated until he was no longer recognisable as the person he once was. Somebody who has had that happen to them does not need redemption, they need to reclaim themselves.
I’ll be very disappointed if the Ur-Didact ends up not receiving this treatment and just remains a villain throughout the whole thing. I hope that he will come to fulfil the purpose that Librarian charged him with as humanity’s teacher.
Ya, it’s too bad the Didact isn’t helping Humanity as he should be, by his own wife! Maybe he’s meant to be the intermittent bad guy for us to fight against just to prepare for an even greater fight later on. Possibly some type of tests the whole time he’s been giving us and seeing how we manage, even if his own life is at risk because the Didact understands what is at stake within the greater galaxy and universe. He does hate humanity a lot though, so maybe he will get over that, but probably not seeing he didn’t get over it for 100,000 years lol. Something cool to think about.
"Fear not humans, I have changed my ways and wish to become an ally!’
“You turned 7 million of our people into robots.”
“My bad.”
I don’t think a mind -Yoinking!- by the Gravemind can be cured.
Well mendicant bias did I mean he was pretty messed up but he did, there’s even a hint that he was actively helping the chief on installation 00 defeat the flood so it is possible

Unless he snaps again.
I really want Didact to ally with John at some point. To fight alongside him.
After escalation the didact will probably look like freddy kruger…I really can’t imagine him as an ally lol…it’s not even secure that he’ll return in a biological form, is it?
If the Ur-Didact is to be redeemed it will most likely be through sacrifice. People expected ONI to be like Cerberus from Mass Effect, but I think the Ur-Didact will play that role. And by that I mean he will be a force which shares the same goal as humanity, (defeat the Precursors/Flood), but at the same time he also apposes humanity and therefor they go about fighting the war in their own way and occasionally bump heads in the process.

That’s exactly what I would say if I was the Didact!

What, like Arbiter 2.0? That plot has been used. I know the Halo franchise has been known to rehash ideas, but could we at least not actively want them to do so?

The Didact is far more of a complex character than the Arbiter was and is in need of redemption.
What about IsoDidact? Technically he could possibly be alive along with the new Lifeshaper.

No evidence suggests that Forerunners could live for over 100,000 years, sadly.
Very true but they may have left over AI like the Librarian left. Which would be extremely interesting to see the Isodidact speak with you. Some people think however that Master Chief is actually a incarnation of Isodidact that the Librarian planned, which would be proved by when 343 Guilty Spark tells Master Chief of answering his question of “Would he do it again, if he had the choice.” When in Installation 04’s control room.
But I leave that to Guilty Spark going crazy and mistaking Chief for Bornstellar.

also because he survived the firing of halo (because he was the firer) they may have found a cryptum for him? just a thought

Slipspace field pods could be an option as well, like the ones in Ghosts of Onyx/Glasslands which house Team Katana. A compressed slipspace field encases the occupant, rendering them incapable of being harmed by events in normal space - and, the key thing, it causes time to pass at a slower rate for the occupant.
“That which must be protected, behind the sharpened edge of the Shield, beyond the reach of the Swords, for the [Reclaimers].”
I would love to see the Iso Didact but it is incredibly unlikely. Forerunner lifespan is no where a 100,000 years and unless he was in stasis then he would have passed on by now. The Iso Didact’s descendants make far more sense and the Forerunner Diaspora should play a role moving forward with the Rubicon and Chakas Spark incident.

The same could be said of the Sangheili, who were instrumental in destroying many UNSC worlds before turning cloak on their San Shyuum masters.
