Friend or Foe - Close Range Troubles

Currently playing Infinite on PC, and I’m having a lot of trouble determining if players up close are friend or foe. I’ve changed my outlines, put on player names, but not much really helps. This is owing itself mostly to the Outline System, as the coatings do not indicate if an enemy player is an ally or an enemy until the start shooting. I believe this is also due to the lack of red reticle on PC. While Assault Rifle and Sidekick ammo is abundant, I would prefer not to waste Power Weapon ammunition on someone at close range, only to find out that they are an ally.

I am unsure as to what the fix would be, as 343’s management has indicated a strong reluctance to implement a red reticle system on PC, and the coating/outline system isn’t going anywhere. Regardless, at least on PC, it’s extremely difficult to determine who is an ally and who is an enemy at close range due to the lack of a solid color denotating who is who.

Is there really no red reticle on PC? I thought I just wasn’t paying attention, but that would explain it if it’s simply absent!

Yup. The explanation given was that there are hacks to make your weapon fire as soon as you have RR. However, I have never even once heard of this as a major issue in Halo MCC or Halo 5: Forge on PC. Frankly, I think it’s a little absurd that the solution is to remove a critical feature as opposed to implementation of anti-cheat to help solve the issue.

Wow, so PC players lose a core feature since CE. That’s nice… (Even worse, consoles still have it! Hahaha)
