My mate bought Halo 4 today. does he have to get all the map DLC’s to play it?
Note: My friend downloaded Halo 4 from the dashboard but the MP maps aren’t on there… How can he play them?

What happens when you try to search in War Games?
He does not need the DLC maps to make it work… He should have access to all the maps that came out with the game. Get him to grab them and forge island and he will be good to go.
Just hand him your Second Disk from your copy of Halo 4 and have him put it in his disk tray and follow the onscreen instructions. The online version of Halo 4 is, oddly, just the single player portion. The multiplayer is on the second disk or downloadable.
Using your second disk is easiest, honestly.
IF this is your problem, that is.
He might need to download Forge Island.
If he just barely bought it, he’ll have to put the second disc in and download it to be able to play anything in War Games.
