Hi, all, and welcome to Friday Caption Fun.
You may have noticed that there’s no image to caption. In fact, there’s not even an event. That’s because I’m saddened to say that as of now, I’m cancelling Friday Caption Fun for the foreseeable future. The reason for this is an occurrence on Thursday I’m sure many of you have noticed.
I won’t go into details to avoid breaching forum rules, but let me be clear: I am extremely disappointed and frustrated over the direction the forums have taken. Until the current situation is resolved to everyone’s satisfaction, I won’t be involved much on the forums, and that includes this contest. In the event that the responsible parties refuse to repair the damage done, I will not be resuming Friday Captions.
I’m genuinely disturbed about the community’s status right now, so I’m going to be spending most of my time over at the Halo Archive forums until this is fixed. To everyone who has been involved in FCF so far, thank you all for the good times and the clever captions. I loved every bit of it. To those who were looking forward to getting back to the fun the forums used to be and participating this week, I’m very sorry about this disappointment. Just don’t blame me too much, please.
I had really high hopes this week… The forums were building up in population, the excitement from the community was a real breath of fresh air after the endless months of toxicity over the MCC and H5G, community events were getting to be big deals again… It just makes the frustration I’m experiencing all the worse.
To those responsible for flatlining the community, you know who you are, I want to make it 100% clear that I’m highly angered and saddened over your actions. I won’t call anyone out, I’m staying within the rules, but let me put this as strongly as I can- You ought to be ashamed of yourselves for throwing the entire loyal community under the bus due to a generalized conclusion you arrived at. There’s a solid core community I’ve been interacting with who are suddenly jumping to the Halo Archive forums or just planning to leave altogether over this one completely avoidable incident. Even if I do start FCF back up, I have no idea how many people if any will come back for it.
