Hi all. I am trying to get my xbox live up and running smoothly before Halo 4 drops.
Long story short: I am frequently being disconnected from live, and I dont know why. My router is rather far away, so I cant do a direct connection with an ethernet cable. Instead, I used an ethernet cable to connect my xbox to my desktop computer and I bridged the connections so that my xbox can share some of my wireless. I also have a bearextender wireless signal booster hooked up to my comp
Any ideas on what could be wrong?
The main problem, wireless.
Wired tech is always going to be better than wireless.
Regardless, can you go to www.speedtest.net and post your results here so we know if it is an ISP issue or not.

Ahhhh, try calling your ISP and tell them about your frequent disconnects, see if it is an issue on their end.
But since you’re with wireless, is there anything that could possibly be interfering with the signal, a Microwave for example?
Download = 18.65Mbps
Upload = 2.00 Mbps
Ping = 11ms

I will. I am on the second floor of a rather spacious house and there are no appliances up here so I am not sure if that is the case. If it helps, I also have a ps3 and I can always connect to the PSN network without any problems or disconnects. It only happens with the 360

It still wouldn’t hurt to give your ISP a call and see if they’re having any problems on their end, I only found it out recently but an ISP can stop you accessing Xbox LIVE completely or have frequent disconnects with issues on their end.

I will, thanks for your help
I’d recommend powerline network adapters if you’re too far away for a “true” wired connection. Wireless is convenient, but far too unstable, especially at long ranges.
Have you tried to manually set your network settings on the Xbox?
Yea, I have gone through the process of openeing all the ports needed for Live to work.
My NAT type is also open
