Freeze on The Great Journey End Cutscene

I’ve been trying to get the Monopolized achievement but my first 2 completed runs of The Great Journey ended with my game completely freezing up exactly as Cortana says “Alright, shoot” in the very final cutscene.

I went back and finished another 2 runs, one on Easy with Bandana/Scarab on, and another normal Legendary run, but camo’d just before the cutscene started and hid behind a pillar while keeping it in old graphics. In both, when the Gravemind starts talking to Cortana in the last cutscene, the entire screen turned blue as if I was being shot by plasma and the controller was vibrating until both suddenly stopped.

I believe the other brutes in the boss fight room begin shooting you again once the last cutscene plays and dying too early in it, or maybe dying as the first ending cutscene starts, causes the game to completely lock up. This has happened all 4 times consistently, and the Easy run didn’t use the Johnson duplication glitch. I’m playing on Series X, not sure if this only happens on specific platforms or if this has always been the case.

First post I’ve seen any mention of it. It did it back on my One X, and I figured maybe a hardware issue, or a patch needed. Few months later…and it still happens on my Series X. Switching to old graphics seems to work most of the time. It’s really annoying, especially when going for speedruns.

I just beat Great Journey on Legendary and got a par time of 11:33 and got that exact glitch where my game froze after cortana said alright. The thing is, everything normal happened. I wish they allowed you to skip that cutscene so we could stop that glitch from happening :confused: Now I have to do that all over again :frowning:
