So I just got temporarily banned for discussing why I think removing the police siren nameplate was a stupid idea, which it is by the way. The moderators on here “Consider it spam” and claim that “it causes people to be uncivil”. Who are you to decide what we can talk about, were having a discussion about this situation without any problems from anyone else other than civil disagreements. The only reason these posts are getting taken down is because just like every other social media you go to, it is controlled by the radical left (No offense to normal left leaning people). This whole situation is ridiculous and honestly I’m so tired of being given the power to speak about what we want and once we do we get in trouble, I want that nameplate back because it is earned from exposing A CORRUPT COP IN ODST’S CAMPAIGN. Quit censoring us and taking away our rights to the first amendment, I don’t care if people are from other countries, everyone in my opinion is allowed to express their opinions!

Forum rules read here.

Edit: I read what you said and it looked like you were unfamiliar with the rules based on what I read so I pointed them out to you in case you needed them.

Okay you posted them again after I read the rules, why don’t you read what I said and bring in a decent conversation instead of being a robot?

The TL;DR on this is : This is a privatly owned forum therefore they hold the right to remove you if they feel what you are saying goes against the guidelines and rules they openly give, and ask that you consent to, Which you DiD do in order to have a voice here.
Freedom of speech protects you against the government not corporations. If you want i can get the 42 page document directly from the Supreme Court stating all the incidents and reasons why this is so. Stop being salty that you got banned when you were poking the bear.

AkFumbles, you are aware the article you posted states specifically that privately owned websites have the right to ban people from their sites as well right? Like it goes entirely against your argument if you read more than paragraph.

You’re incorrect, unfortunately you are the one who must read more of the entire discussion.

It goes against basic human rights that we hold dear in America. Media is so large now a days that it is, and I quote from the discussion I posted, “It is the equivalent of the Public Square”. This doesn’t just mean the listed social media groups, it goes for this one too. Don’t worry, one day these media outlets which were made in the United States won’t be able to censor forever and everyone will get to see real opinions rather than controlled ones.

No it doesn’t count for this if you read what I posted you will see that their actions are protected under law. This is a privately owned forum, you consented to use the forum in a manner to which the creators intended you are quite literally in their house and they can throw you out on a whim. No where does this platform state that it is an open public forum for someone to speak any thought that comes to their head. Please read up on laws before you make baseless statements about saud laws.

This is simply not true.

Freedom of speech in the United States (where 343 is based) only applies to government censorship of speech. It’s a bit more complicated than that of course when it comes to social media like Twitter or Facebook (seeing how it could be considered a public space depending on your interpretation of case law), but at the end of the day, 343 created this site and is allowed to curate the content however they choose. You’re also free to engage or not engage in discussion on their site.

I don’t like that the nameplate was removed either, but 343 ultimately gets to decide how they run their business and who they listen to. If they do something you disagree with strongly enough, you have the right to not purchase their product and instead support a different company that reflects your values more closely. That’s the fundamental basis of capitalism.

In the end, all I’m really saying is that 343 in fact is able to “decide what we can talk about” on their own forum.

The topic has already been discussed at length in multiple threads here, and has been officially commented on, but more importantly those threads divulged into something other than civil chatter about the topic at multiple points, if you have further things to say about it you should consider doing so elsewhere.

You grossly misunderstand this forum. You complain about being temporarily banned, and this is somehow an infringement on your rights, but as Bungie put it so eloquently years ago on their own forums, you have no rights. This is a privately owned forum, as many have pointed out in the posts above. MS/343 made the rules and the mods enforce them, whichever side of the fence you fall on over the whole nameplate doesn’t matter. It will devolve into mud slinging and controversial takes on law enforcement. We have seen it in a 90 post thread, it’s a volatile topic, you can see it everyday in the news, the streets, and on social media.

This discussion is done, there is not a force on this planet to make 343 change their decision, it’s their product. -Yoinking!- and whining about it just clogs the forums, and sometimes leads to posts like this acting as if a sacred right has been denied, when it was never afforded. Ignoring the whole nameplate discussion you have already broken a rule by publicly discussing moderator decisions and you might be on your way to a permaban.

At the end end of the day who cares, it’s a nameplate which can only be viewed for the brief 30 seconds after a match completes. If this is the hill you plan to die on by all means go ahead, but please understand there are no rights here and the mods will keep it clean.

As several people have stated Freedom speech is the right not to be fined or jailed by the government for MOST kinds of speech. It is not all encompassing, nor does it apply here. We’re not required to give anyone a platform or to allow anyone contribute to this community. If you choose to break the rules you will be shown the door, the same as if you’d come into someone’s house and broken their rules. I am and always have been a free speech advocate and that isn’t going to change, but that doesn’t change my duties to keep this environment clean, safe, and allow for construcitve conversation about halo.
