I’ve listed below the differences. In my opinion it is worth it for the Premium rewards, if only for the 5 Noble Team armor kits. I’ve wanted to make my spartan look like them ever since I could get quite close to them (but not exactly the same) in Reach on the 360.
I do think they should put some in-game currency in there though at different points, so we could save for a particular shop item we really want, or maybe even just save for the next battle pass (like you can in Fortnite).
On that note though, I’d recommend against spending money on it now.
Level it up first and then buy it when you’ve reached a good level on it.
So, the rewards are most likely worth it, but keep that money tight even if you can spare it, and hold out untill you’re in a good portion of it. Never know what might happen in the game, or with it.
Honestly, until like a moment ago I didn’t even knew there were free rewards. I assumed since there was only 1 Progression List, it’s all just Premium content. I think 343i need to make this more clearer in the UI if you ask me then. Split the bar in 2 like other games do or some other visual way.
I whole hearty agree with this post! Notice how less items you earn from the “Free” Battle Pass compared to the Premium version. 80% of the free stuff is just challenge swap/XP boosts. I guess I’ll wear Recruit armor forever until the end of time
Ugh, anyway… I hope -Yoink!- changes when it hits December 8.
I think this breakdown will help a lot of people make a better decision. Issues with progression aside, the premium pass should feel loke you’re getting more than the free one. People keep forgetting that they have full access to the MP suite, for free, even if they don’t buy the campaign.
Honestly the rewards for Premium are worth it to me, but as it currently stands progressing through the Battle Pass is unbearably and unnecessarily slow. Unless some major changes are made to xp gain you’ll be playing this for 12+ hours a day every day just to complete it. Very frusturating.
I think that is the primary issue they need to focus on. People being mad cause they can’t get even more stuff for free (on top of, y’know, the game) don’t really need to be a priority unless the player base evaporates.
I’m OK with the xp progression at the moment but it’s the nature of the weekly challenges that is killing my enjoyment right now. Some are far too situational.
Interesting assessment. I think the problem with your overall sentiment on whether it’s worth it or not is that Halo, historically, has had numerous ugly armor permutations. See, in reality, you may only seek to unlock a few options out of all of the unlockable options. Then, when the next Season comes out or the one after that, there might be another few pieces out of all the unlockables. So is it really worth the first $10 just for your desired armor set that you likely have used for years already, and is it really worth the next $10 to ‘replace’ your last armor set which you already spent money on (and now wasted)? And, this will continue for years as each next Season gets dropped.
It’s a good question and I know what you mean, you finally get an armour that you’ve wanted for ages only to unlock an even cooler one so you never really use the first one lol
I would like a system where you could have several preset armour combinations, or saved ‘favourites’, that the game could randomly select from. At least then I’d feel more value for earlier purchases.
The XP boosts were what I noticed when I first looked at the pass, and I knew they would get massive backlash on it. It is essentially showing everyone that you need to pay to increase XP, either through the Pass or the 3rd party promotions.
That is going to trigger people.
Edit: I think the pass is actually pretty standard in terms of the type of cosmetic unlocks.
