The current model seems to be:
Free: One house made map (or more IF forge)
Paid: 3 or more house made maps and content
Honestly? Im all for free but in this case i would rather pay for 3 or more original maps every few months or so and get free REQ’s in between then do this free thing they got going on
The need for house made original maps is killin me -_-
I like this method best. Forge maps don’t phase me at all. Sure, developed maps are pretty, but that doesn’t matter much when I’m getting my rump handed to me in a game of slayer.

Dude what do you mean? We have been getting 2 dev maps per update so far. Why on Earth are there still so many fools that STILL believe that forge maps count towards the free dlc? They don’t! Community breakout maps and BTB have been added into these playlists just to increase variety and map count and to show off some good community creations. More community maps for come soon for BTB. 2 dev maps per update is more than satisfying along with the Req’s. Forget about the gametypes for a second they don’t really count as part of the free dlc and are another topic. This month (together with 3-4 gametypes, which will be better than previous versions at least) we will get 2 arena maps and most likely another warzone environment. That’s a good amount of new maps to keep us lasting for another month and increase map variety.

It is free and the game was not half-baked in terms of maps just in terms of gametype variety and that will be fixed this update soon. Halo 5 did have the most amount of maps at launch, bear that in mind (not counting forge maps) and if you honestly believe that all of this free content has been cut the you need to wake up. I have never seen that a big game like Halo 5 with in depth gameplay pull off 28+ dev maps at launch. That’s right I did calculations and this game should at least have 28 total dev maps and maybe more due to the announcement of more non-remixed maps.

Lol seeing people all of the sudden pulling that “paid dlc is better because of the price tag” out their bums is disgusting. Grow out of that ignorance. You do know that some people can’t keep affording to pay for dlc and how dlc contributes to splits in the population? Or how some people that bought the game aren’t invested into Halo like we are so may not have the interest to buy dlc? When these people see free dlc with extra maps and stuff pop up they will be like “Hey cool I liked this game and there are some cool things to try out. Oh this new warzone map looks cool. Oh nice its free so I might as well hop on”. Hope you get the main message of free dlc’s benefits. If you dare to pull out the card with Halo 5 being number 9-11 on the top popular games on XBL and not at least in top 6. Well I can tell you that free updates have largely nothing to do with this and this is more to do with the lack of gametypes which will finally arrive this coming update.
This method is much better. You decide whether or not you put more money into the game after initial purchase. Then any content we get doesnt sanction us off from each other. Everyone will always have each map. Its what helps keep a community alive when we all have the same content.

That always happened due to horrid handling of Play-lists.

Paid DLC is always the better option the majority of the time Hell the content we been given for free now doesn’t even compare to what we would’ve got if there had been Paid DLC. You need to grow out of your own ignorance if you think that going down the route of MMO development is the key to prolonging the life of Halo 5 its just a slow burning Death that’ll crash harder. The Free DLC doesn’t show that they mean it with their word if anything the Free DLC shows that they aren’t committed unless they actually stated something about their Deadlines of when they plan to release this content in an orderly fashion. IE not 6 months down the line
I have yet to play Halo 5,buti know i was pretty mad when i bought the map packs for Halo 4 and found out the hard way that “players donot have the recommended downloadable content” that left a bad taste in my.mouth with 343
Think about the marketplace in general within economics. In the 343 “free” system they release a content-lacking game with the promise of monthly updates and contend drops. On the flip side when we had paid DLC in halo, we would know what was being purchased and whether it was worth x amount of $. Did the player count drop significantly after each DLC drop? How great is free DLC when the daily peak pop is having issues hitting 40k? Quality in the marketplace makes such a purchase worthwhile. Quality over quantity, its’ a better business model and I for one have no clue why they want the fast dollar over a sustained high quality product/high revenue system.
People understand this. It doesn’t matter if you paid like regular DLC, of the current model where they get money through paid req packs. Either way the company gets the money. Either way the new maps n modes etc were going to be this way, no matter how they got the money. $100 is still $100 doesn’t matter how they got it. what they decide to give out is already planned. the reason this way is better is so when new maps come out, everyone can play it. Keeping halo current. otherwise people might not buy in masses and the population will be left out and you will be stuck playing with the same people over n over because pop is low.
Free is definitely better than paid. The main problem with map packs in previous games is that you’d get to play them for a couple weeks but then the population for the playlist would just die out. With the free DLC everyone has access and they’ll last way longer over time.

Pop in DLC only playlists may die out as it’s only there to promote the current DLC, general peak population (ranked modes required dlc in h2/3 mind you) still topped 1mil a day a year after release. Right now were at ~40k. Again quality of the product should be the priority.
