I’m going to say that it’s better than paying for it, but how pathetic would it be if we actually had to buy these monthly updates??
How many damn “remix” maps are we going to get?? How about new maps?
But wait there’s more! Half of the maps in this month’s update were forge-built, and every map in last month’s update were forge-built.
All these “updates” are just content that was finished, but not put in the game at launch.
If you’re going to have any updates or DLC, do it right.
Back when 343 said that it was going to have 18 free maps post launch, I got pretty darn happy, but I didn’t think a majority of them would be remixes and forge maps, WE CAN MAKE OUR OWN FORGE MAPS!
My thought on them being forge until now is to show that yes done if these can be done in forge.
My 2 cents.
I know. It’s super shady. Honestly at this point I feel like Microsoft is more to blame than 343.
I know for the Battle of Noctus the entire map was remain because they weren’t really liking how the first version was panning out. I kinda want to see the first version of the map released.

I agree, the publisher usually is usually more involved in these situations.

I don’t really see the point you’re making here. These maps are purely for the public community. They may be remakes but they’re professionally built and add more variety. What’s wrong with remakes anyway? I’m sure too many can be unsatisfactory, but can’t you appreciate them for supplying the effort? These are free after all, making completely new maps with forge ain’t easy’.

Yes, but these maps should’ve just been in the game at launch.

I would rather pay for actual, good, maps then be stuck with 18 “free” maps. It’s like everything was already finished. We had forged maps in the beginning, basically implying forge was already done, and Noctus was shown before the game released as a tease in a trailer.
Isn’t this topic kind-of beating a dead horse already?

Seriously? These are remade Forge maps not original dev maps, then the remixes of the base maps instead of just make new maps how can you possibly justify that just because its free? I’m sorry but from experience it takes me a week max to forge a map or two because I dedicate hours making them. So it can be really easy especially if your a professional. Just because its free doesn’t mean it isn’t -Yoink-.

Microsoft is 343i, 343i is Microsoft. They are one and the same. Microsoft created 343i to continue milking the Halo fanbase. So in essence blame them both since they are the same entity.

We’re two updates into a monthly commitment. Chill out

I was going to contest this claim, but I’m finding it increasingly difficult to give 343 the benefit of the doubt. And even though there’s arguably not one developer who deserves it less than 343, I’m trying real hard.
I get that people aren’t happy with all the DLC, I’m not either. I have totally agreed as well that 343i doesn’t seem to “get” what makes a good Halo map & they haven’t made very many good Halo maps. That being said, I can also see the statement, “What do people really expect here?” Most companies don’t make good DLC. There’s only been a few FPS’s that I play that had good DLC. Go back to Battlefield 3, the best maps were on the disc. The DLC was average. Battlefield 4, the best maps were on the disc. The DLC was average. Battlefield: Hardline, should I even mention this one? The Call of Duty games recently…let’s get real here…I can’t think of any DLC I’ve enjoyed in CoD lately, I have to think clear back to the Modern Warfare 2/World At War era to even think of any DLC that I liked. Black Ops 3? C’mon the maps on the disc aren’t even that great, do we expect the DLC maps to be good? People are simply buying the packs for Zombies over there. Battlefront? The first free DLC map is pretty bad, it’s simply the Jakku desert with a bunch of scrap laying in it. So to be fair, all the other series you have to pay for the DLC & they aren’t giving you much either for your $50 compared to stuff being free in Halo. I do agree that this game does need some better maps though & they really need to make 2-3 professional BTB maps at some point.
What I don’t understand about this actual map vs forge map argument is that every map is forged. Be it Coliseum or Overgrowth or Pegasus and Orion. It’s all created in a forge. The only difference is one is painted and the other is just plain. They both play and work the exact same way, so why is it such an issue?

Because apparently watching walls and floors that look pretty is now an essential part of halo. Give me beautiful walls or stick those free maps up yours 343!!

Forge maps don’t count as the 18+ maps, how many more times? Plus the updates we’ve had haven’t exactly been map-focused, rather gametype- and feature-focused. I’m sure we’ll get more conventional map packs further down the line, probably around February-March when FPS titles normally get map packs.
Most games get map packs every 3 months, so expecting 343 to release brand new maps a month or so after launch is very naïve. Just be happy they’re releasing Forge maps and be patient.

Non-forge maps aren’t created in Forge, the geometry is hand-sculpted and the artwork is obviously fully custom as well. What gets me is when people complain about remixes; remixes take just as much work as brand new maps. The geometry and art are completely different, and so is gameplay.
People can’t honestly think that Plaza and Overgrowth play the same way.
What a bunch of greedy needy -Yoinks!- we have all become. I know most of you feel as though you have the right to be annoyed at this content you are contributing literally nothing towards other than your ill deserved and frankly ill thought out scorn, but my god it makes you look pathetic. Is it really worth this much stress and tears? I can’t believe some of your actually seem to be personally offended that 343i hasn’t catered this game to your individual needs. “But they need to listen to the community”. They do. Its kind of hard to listen when you’ve got thousands of ungrateful children screaming various different demands in your ear.
Forge maps are still maps, you can still run, you can still hide, you can still shoot. I cannot even begin to conceive why people would be annoyed at EXTRA maps that are forged, who cares? This is all on top of the base game you were all clearly happy to buy, and on top of the already announced 18 proper FREE dlc maps. And I’d rather have twice as many maps with some Forged than half as many but all in-built. If you buy a game on the promise of post launch content that you don’t even have to pay for, then get annoyed with it even when the alternative is either paying for the same content and splitting the community into smaller and smaller groups or getting nothing at all, then quite frankly you’re a moron who doesn’t deserve the hardware you use. Do the world a favour and go give your Xboxs to underprivileged kids who might actually appreciate something free and stop being such a bunch of unconstructive, ungrateful -Yoink-. There’s criticism, and whining. All most of you lot do is whine.
For me, the biggest disappoint in Halo 5 by far is the community. Goodbye.
Complain any more and they’ll make you pay for the updates. How about you sit back and just enjoy your free content
