I haven’t seen a clean-cut and to-the-point thread pitting these two game modes against each other.
What do you think, Halo community? Is the generic Free-For-All formula the best? Or is it Regicide?
Personally, I believe that Free-For-All is better for balancing and overall skill reasons. I can’t even begin to explain how annoying it is to lose to somebody you did better than in Regicide.
Regicide prevents camping, but the nav point and King point system are strange. I prefer pure FFA when I don’t want to play on a team, so I made a custom map and gametype for it.
Too bad you need to add people to your party in order to play custom.
Who was the one pathetic person who voted regicide? Do you really need to have the best player get a handicap in order to win?
You realize that regicide is like the Blue shell from mario kart. It is a stupid mechanic meant to make people who aren’t good have a chance. There is no other reason for FFA to have been screwed over.
Here’s what people don’t understand though, Regicide is objective and not slayer based. Any gametype where you can win with a negative k/d, or an entire team can have negative k/d. Regicide is easily confused to be a slayer type because the objective is killing, but one kill is just worth significantly more than the other. Worth so much in fact that in Team Regicide if you send two guys in to take out their king and both of your guys die but still take out the king, you just came out of the situation positive over the other team in points.
> whats the difference? is all about whoever can leach off kills of others than any real skill.
Are you kidding? A skilled player will always do well in FFA, If I go +20 one game against a group of people, and then play them again, I will win.
In regicide however, if I go +20, then I will lose against someone who only got like 15 kills because their kills are worth more than mine since I am punished for actually being good at the game and they are rewarded for being bad.
It is the antithesis of what Halo is about. Regicide is closer to mario party than Halo. It is designed to make 13 year olds feel good about themselves for beating someone, even if that person had 6 more kills, and half as many deaths.
It would be better if at the beginning of every match, they just rewarded the win to the person in the lobby with the lowest K/D. At least then the people with skill wouldn’t have to suffer through the -Yoink-.

343 need to stick by their word and drop playlists with very little interest. I don’t care that its one of their new game types, they need to admit its a failure, suck up their pride and drop it.
Team regicide is fun though, should go in team objective.
Regicide is a watered down version of Juggernaut and that punishes skilled players they need to give us a real FFA playlist with classic slayer as an option.
