Free-For-All needs some love!

Anyone feel like the Free-For-All playlist in this game is being neglected? In past Halo games, Rumble Pit was my favorite playlist; I like being able to rock my custom colors and go it alone without having to depend on crappy teammates.

But in Halo 5… FFA just isn’t fun. It feels random, it’s filled with campers, and most games go to the timer before someone can hit 25 kills because no one can stay alive for more than 10 seconds on most maps.

There’s a few ways FFA can be improved:

1. Add a Social FFA playlist. Once I earn my rank for the season, it becomes really hard for me to find decent matches… also, there tends to be a lot of quitting in FFA, and with every player that quits, the game slows down. So a social FFA playlist with join-in-progress would be a big help; besides which, I play Halo for fun, and I’m not a fan of competitive playlists. I stopped caring about rank way back in Halo 3 when I realized that Rumble Pit was more fun than Lone Wolves.

2. Increase Motion Tracker range to 25m. In Free-For-All, you don’t have a team to watch your back, so it helps to keep your eyes on your motion tracker… except the range in Halo 5 is too short for FFA. When someone comes sprinting up behind you, by the time you’ve spotted them on your tracker they’ve already Spartan Charged you in the back. If nothing else, there should be increased tracker range in Social FFA.

3. Add more maps. I don’t think there are any community Forge maps in FFA…? I’d love to see some remakes of the classics from Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo: Reach Rumble Pit playlists. Maps like Blackout, Cold Storage, Assembly, Foundry, Reflection, Countdown, and my personal favorite… Halo 3’s Guardian. I’d love to see the Community Cartographers recreate these maps for FFA.

4. Reduce respawn timer to 5 seconds. Why do I have to wait 8 seconds to get back up every time I die? It was 5 seconds in the last 3 Halo games. The 8 second timer slows down the game, especially on maps that are too big for 6-player FFA; namely Truth, Regret, and sometimes Torque.

I have maybe played one match of FFA i honestly forgot it existed until this moment

They could remove FFA in its entirety and I wouldn’t even notice.

Yup. Pretty much this lol.

I wasnt much of a fan of FFA before Halo 5 so yeah, I havent really noticed its there.
Mostly the thought of going into a place where you literally have to go all out to even get NEAR the top spot just makes me want to hide.

I thought everybody just crouched and waited around.

The fact that my FFA says that i have high latency to the servers makes me not want to play FFA.

I couldn’t tell you why, but FFA just isn’t fun in Halo 5. I stopped playing it after the first ranking season. I might play 1 FFA game per month. Maybe.

That’s pretty much what FFA has become in Halo 5. That’s why 343i needs to do something about it.

FFA is the best it’s been since H3 Lone Wolves IMO. It’s about all I play in arena except btb and the fiesta when they offer it. I don’t come across campers very much imo. People always over exaggerate on the forums. They probably just played a game with a camper and jump online and proclaim every one is doing it in FFA… Kinda like how some proclaim every game of warzone they play they get “farmed”… I don’t understand why so many zero in on a negative and can’t seem to see or realize anything else just the negative…

The fact that Australians can’t even find a game in FFA also adds onto the “neglection” that FFA is getting.

That’s because most of the maps were designed for team games; as a result, they don’t play well in FFA. I’m thinking they should just make FFA have all Forge maps specifically made for FFA, like Big Team Battle. Start with the best FFA maps from Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo: Reach, and Halo 4; Tombstone, Lockout, Guardian, Assembly, The Pit, Countdown, Reflection, Haven, Adrift… these are all maps that I remember enjoying in FFA in past Halo games. They just need to be tweaked and balanced to Halo 5’s gameplay and account for Spartan Abilities. Combine that with increased motion tracker range at 25m instead of 18m, and a Social FFA playlist for those who just want to have fun and don’t care about rank, and FFA could be a lot more enjoyable in Halo 5.
