Hello,
Disclaimer: I really enjoy Halo 5; in terms of Multiplayer, it’s the best the series has ever been since Halo 2. Halo has finally found its fourth element that the series has been trying to add since Halo 3’s equipment. Once a few tweaks are made and some more content gets added, it’ll easily be one of the best multiplayer experiences available.
Currently, I’m Diamond in Slayer and Team Arena, Platinum 3 in Breakout, and Onyx in Free for All. I’ve been playing Halo for a long time and consider myself to be a decent player. I was happy to get an Onyx rank in Free for All because I enjoy close competitive matches without the possibility of bad teammates to get in the way. Unfortunately, the spawn system is resulting in matches that don’t feel very skill based.
Kill stealing and bad spawns are almost unavoidable in Free for All and have always existed in every Halo game, but I feel that currently, it’s more present in Halo 5. I’d estimate that 8 out of 10 matches end with the top player having few assists, while players on the bottom have the most, and it’s pretty clear what’s going on. Even better, in games where the same group of players participate in multiple matches, the person who finished last in the game before will finish first in the next, simply because their spawns happen to not place them in dire situations.
Even in games where I win, I don’t feel like I really earned it, and probably won just because I happened to stumble upon battles where two enemies were both at no shields and cleaned up the kills.
I do believe that it’s specifically the spawns, and not the map or weapon design, there are times where I’ll die and immediately someone else will spawn right on top of where I just blew up, and proceed to watch them get killed in the same way.
Either this system needs to be tweaked, or the player count needs to be lowered to accommodate this.
Does anyone else have suggestions for this?
