Someone I know got the expensive digital edition of Halo 5. Free!. He’s been telling me that he was able to pre download the game, install it and today he told me he played for a few hours and he didn’t pay for the download. Does anyone know if this is “commun”? Or maybe it’s like the halo 4 maps that people were able to play without buying ?
I’m really sad because I don’t have enough money to get the game and he got it for free…
Maybe for Christmas…
I have not heard of this happening yet for halo 5 but I’m sure its a glitch for a few lucky members of xbox! Hope you get the game for Christmas cause it is a lot of fun

If his xbox is listed as somebody else’s “Home Console,” he will get the downloads for anything that the other person downloads for free.
For example my brother has an xbox one, but my xbox one is his “home console.” When we pre-order games, we do it on his xbox, which gives him the game and then it also downloads to his “home console” (which is my xbox) for free. We can both play simultaneously and with each other as if they were two separate copies. Not sure if this is the situation, but it IS a feature that xbox live promoted very early in the XO lifecycle.

Maybe someone is sharing his account on your Xbox…
He told me that at first he wasn’t able to find the standard edition in the store… So he deleted all other accounts (among some other things) and he was never able to find the standard edition… So he decided to go for the expensive edition but he was able to download without paying.

Definitely NOT a reward. I have been a Xbox owner & Xbox Live member since day 1 and have no “rewards”. Neither do any of my friends.
TBH: he probably bought it and is just saying he got it for free to piss you off.
I really hope you get it for Christmas (or sooner) and kick his -Yoink- in warzone!

I can see why you guys think he’s teasing me. But he’s not… He’s been telling me the whole week to check my own Xbx to see if it happens to me… And he wouldn’t lie for that. He’s not a kid.

So I tell him… Maybe you paid for it
His answer: every purchase I make I have to confirm with his credit card numbers and I haven’t done that…
At midnight he turned on his Xbox and he expected to not be able to play without paying, but he does not have internet at home so he couldn’t play. So he asked a friend to go to his place for the internet and he was able to play without buying the game…
The same thing happened to me last night. I have checked my bank account and credit card, and no money has left. I haven’t entered any codes in, yet last night it said it was ready to launch. Played it for a few hours today.

I have no other accounts on my Xbox either… Not gonna complain about getting it for free, it’s just pretty strange.
I paid 34¢ for my digital deluxe version.
Same thing! I got it free too! I was playing MC collection then it started downloading checked online to see if it was just a glitch but others have it too
