Free dlc in Halo 5 sucked. Yeah I know what I said sounds crazy but lets take a look at what we got with Halo 5’s Free DLC.
- 3 Warzone maps - Warzone Assault - Warzone Firefight (your gonna lose the match if your not gifted team mates that use reqs and are skilled) - Remixes (excuse for new arena maps) - Req cards (some useless and are only there to force you to grind even more) - Gamemodes (that were already in previous Halo games) - The REQ System Micro transactions that force people to grind through a bunch of -Yoink- armor and weapons and spend days just to get good ones. It took me at least 7 days to finaly get all rare cards.Whats better decent free dlc with microtransactions or good paid dlc

how do you get the free dlc
What’s best? Purely cosmetic paid DLC, with all the stuff that actually affects gameplay (weapons, maps, vehicles, modes, etc) being added in free updates.
Why companies don’t realize that is beyond me… It’s been proven SEVERAL times over that people are willing to buy cosmetics.
Maps should be the only thing considered “DLC”. We should not and never had to pay for modes.

i think that bringing back good paid dlc would be nice. If a game is free to play, micro transactions make complete sense to me. But PAYING for a triple A title that has micro transactions is just stupid, especially how 343i has it set up. Paying for REQs just to have a very minimal chance at getting the “Free” dlc is stupid. I liked CoD Ghosts way of micro transactions, because I could pay 5 bucks and know for a fact I’d be getting that gun skin or that voice pack.

You already have it. About 60% of the game was missing at launch and released in monthly updates as free dlc. To answer OP’s question, I’d prefer developers go back to releasing complete games instead of selling the dlc during game launch. DLC should be something that comes waaaay later. Like 6 months at least. If a game launches in October, content released in Nov/Dec isn’t DLC. It’s content held back at launch.

Yeah but the maps 343i gave us were lame rimixes. The maps in Halo 5 are worse then most games I have ever played. Not as much because of the game play but also because of the way they looked. Imagine if in halo 3 every map was a rearanged version of foundery and the only thing that changed was the enviorment outside the map, no maps in Halo 5 really make a name for them selfs. Its like if in the old BTB maps every flag base was the same like in warzone. Thats what makes every games maps from Destiny, Battlefield to maybe even BO3 for -Yoinks!- sake better then this game.
You assume that if we paid for stuff then quality would improve. I disagree as many games release -Yoink- for paid dlc. Also don’t want maps or gamemodes that precious halos had to be paid for as that’s just as bad as the microTs supporting it and is in no way an improvement. Real quality dlc is something that needs to be new, fresh, and adds replay value to the game. Bioware is a perfect example. All multiplayer content is free while their dlc adds to the story many times over due to the many courses it can go and the decisions that can be redone over and over while halo is a simple fps, something most fps share, and is why I generalize fps dlc as -Yoink-. If I had to pick, and believe me when I say I dislike both paid dlc and microTs, I’d take the microTs simply cuz it doesn’t divide the community, is free as in I personally don’t need to spend a dime and others pay it for me, and with h5s version it isn’t pay to win nor do they offer exclusives that can only be bought that actually effect gameplay. The skins have no effect, if they were to sell exclusive weapons/vehicles then the stance changes.
What sucks about paid DLC is that it becomes useless when the game population starts dying off.
For example Halo 2, I never got to play the DLC maps often, for they never showed up on the playlist.
Halo Reach was worst. After several months. I actually had to get a few friends together and we hooked up guest controllers just to get all the achievements in it.
Halo 4 was another one as well. Where no one had the DLC maps, and I have to admit that a lot of those maps were extremely impressive.
COD, the same thing.
Battlefield is a little easier for it has server browsers. But it’s not common finding servers with the DLC maps.
I’m tired of buying map packs and never playing on those maps a month after the DLC dropped. It’s not worth it.
Though Halo 3 was Smart. If you want to play Multiplayer in it, you have to have all the maps.
Doom has a good DLC idea, if you don’t have the new DLC maps but some one in your party has them you can still play them. That way if you like them you can buy them. It’s not a perfect solution form a developer/publisher point of view as it won’t make them a -Yoink- ton of money, but for they players it won’t exclude those that don’t have the new DLC but still want to play with friends who do.

makin DLC paid again won’t make it better though…
at this point, we have no reason to believe that the DLC maps were half–Yoinked!-, I’m afraid that what we have gotten (mostly UNSC maps, remixes, etc) is what 343 considers good maps and making them paid won’t make them better, it will only piss more people off because they paid for them…
plus, paid DLC would be the death sentence for Halo considering the already low population…
Having bought a game and not spent anymore money on it post launch felt amazing. I like this new system.
WHAT?
Why are people asking for a req system and free DLC?
WE CLEARLY SAW WHAT 343 DID TO HALO 5 AND ALL THEY DID WAS SHIP CONTENT THAT WAS HELD BACK FROM LAUNCH!!!
Apart from WZFF.
This is it!
BTB, held back.
Forge, held back
Battle of Noctus, held back
Come on!!
I would rather have GOOD paid DLC, than terrible free dlc
WHAT WE NEED IS A F*CKING MAP VOTING SYSTEM, HOW IS IT THAT ALMOST EVERY OTHER HALO HAD THIS EXCEPT THIS ONE?
I’M SICK OF GETTING BATTLE OF NOCTUS OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN!
This thread is so wrong it makes me sad. Here’s a list of what we got in each update:
If you scroll down to the bottom of each of those links you can see whats actually in each update. Its a ton of stuff.
I am okay with how Halo 5 multiplayer is. Not okay about the campaign!
Give me Halo 5’s DLC model over previous iterations all day, every day. It’s not even close. Being able to play the DLC maps in previous games was always a crap shoot, only guarantee was getting them in a DLC playlist (and good luck playing that when they’d release a small map and a big map together). I still don’t think I ever saw Breakpoint in the regular Invasion playlist back in Reach.
Just, no.

Is there something wrong with the synapses in your brain? Nothing was “held back” to provide free DLC at a later date.
There should be option for no REQ and DLC.
