I’m seeing some folks mad that they bought the Season 1 battle pass to get the MK V [B] armor core, since people are getting it for free. But, there’s some missing perspective.
1: The armor you would unlock through the first Battle Pass is still on that Battle Pass. Congratulations, you can has Recon, but the FBP for the Winter Update, can’t.
2: It is good to give people things for free. There’s no real debate here. I really like that this is an option players will have as an alternative if they so desire. This is more free stuff that everyone is getting and for any new players, that’s fantastic. That’s more customization options right off the bat for the price of absolutely zero. There is no world where that is a bad thing.
3: The price is data. We play, they get the metrics of how fast we progress, how XP goes in such a pass, etc. It is alright. Literally, we’re contributing to better progression by playing through this pass.
Yeah, I get it folks. Some of us bought both passes and plenty of other cosmetics. (Don’t regret too many of them either.)
But just because we paid does not mean everyone in the future should have to. Some fishermen went out for a hours to days on end to bring back a haul for everyone, doesn’t mean that we need to do that to eat too, you know?
As for those who bought nothing, congratulations, your abstinence has finally been rewarded. Be proud if you want to, because if there were ever an opportunity, it’d be right about now.
Nah while im not bothered people are totally justified to be pissed if free content from season 1 is jaust handed out now.
The fact they still have it aint perspective its just a reminder that their purchases might be without value in future as content that was paywalled becomes free.
Perfectly acceptable stance on the situation.
The data thing makes no sense at all.
The people who paid also contribute to data so by that logic they paid twice.
Like that fish thing is nonsense KC haha the fisherman then sold that fish…
It’s honestly baffling to me that people would be bothered about F2P players getting the Mark V [B] armor core, when in reality, it’s the parts that matter.
Like, yeah. They’re getting the Mark V [B] core and all of the things in the free 30-tier battle pass. Whatever, we’re all getting that too. But they aren’t getting the multiple dozens of items in the Season 1 battle pass that they could have if they were to have paid for it and progressed it like we did.
By that logic, what’s the big deal? It isn’t devaluing anything, it’s simply an expansion on an existing core now made available to the general playerbase. If you’re asking me, rolling out armor cores to all players and simply making the armor pieces the focus is the best content model. From there, you could have obtainment methods range from battle passes to a deeper progression system, and then everyone wins.
I don’t agree with this at all, but thanks for your opinions. Nothing says “we respect the players” by making their previous and most likely first purchase in Infinite half of it’s original value because they handed out the MAIN PIECE of the BP to everyone for free.
This is all market planning, this has nothing to do with “respect” or whatever nonsense Sean was spouting in that video. Giving away the Armor Core for free means players who got it free still have missing pieces from S1 BP which seems more like another attempt to get folks to buy the S1 BP… bottom of the line, it’s all about making money. Which is the main goal of any company, but usually companies actually deliver fully completed products unlike 343.
No they don’t lmao where have you been for the last ten years?
Technically the company sold that fish.
You must not fully grasp the value of data. You ever wonder why plans that give you discounts are free, and your only price you have to pay is your email or a phone number?
Main problem for me is: I support the game by buying the first battle pass but don’t get any credits to buy Season 2 battlepass. They include this in S2 only. And now they give away the poorly supported Mark V armor anyway. Reminder never to spend money on this game again.
I mean you’re right, but usually only bad or poorly operated companies deliver shoddy, incomplete products. A lot of other developers out here are delivering completed products through multiple different IPs. Then they are improved upon throughout their lifespan with updates and DLC but 343 just doesn’t understand this… even after over ten years of working on one single franchise.
I dont see how that remotely discredits what ive said though KC.
I literally worked data collection and analytics after uni mate. But that isnt the point I was making and im pretty sure you know that cheeky vixen.
Not a fox! The F2P Battle Pass has very targeted data collection, compared to prior ones. The old ones did too, but this experiment will be the groundwork for future Battle Pass progression systems.
Yeah, I don’t get people complaining about everyone now getting the Mark V[B] core for free. “I had to spend $10 to get access to that core, and now everyone can get it for free!” Yes, you spent money to get access to something a year earlier than everyone else. Do you also complain that you bought a game for $60 at release, and a year later people can now buy it for $30? Did you also complain all the way back in the Halo 2 days that you paid for each DLC release as it came out, only for a few months later the DLC to become free for everyone? Same thing for Halo 3’s DLC. You paid for early access. Usually things become cheaper over time.
I have tons of other Halo issues to be concerned about than whether or not someone is getting MV. B for free.
Hell, it should’ve been free to begin with since it’s a 10 year old armor set from a previous title. I get tired of game companies like 343 and Bungie constantly selling thing back to me.
How else would people equip the armor they unlocked in the free pass if they did not have access to the armor core? People getting this core for free makes sense. Would have been a worse -Yoink!- show if they gave people a free battle pass with armor you could not equip if you don’t buy the season 1 pass.
