Fred, Linda and Kelly

I’m sorry if this question is stupid and ignorant, but I read a few halo books a while back and didn’t Masterchiefs squad mates die, so why are Fred, Linda and Kelly still alive. Just to let you know I haven’t read any recent books and the last halo book I read was years ago.

You can read the rest of the Kilo-Five Trilogy (grasslands is the start) for Last light picks up and is caused by events that happen in the last book

Linda was eventually recovered and revived after the events on Installation 04, Fred and Kelly survived in hiding in Castle Base on Reach with Dr. Halsey. Master Chief rescued them after stealing a Covenant flagship after Halo CE. Kelly is abducted and taken to Onyx by Dr. Halsey. Chief goes to fight in Africa while Fred and Linda fight elsewhere on Earth before Fred and Linda are sent to Onyx by Lord Hood. Fred, Kelly, Linda and Dr. Halsey are trapped in a Dyson’s Sphere after the events at Onyx until later.

Kelly and Fred never die and are never said or thought to be dead, ever. Master Chief did seem to THINK that Linda was dead, but he was mistaken about that.
