What can we expect on the control schemes side of things? Can we change Sprint and AA behavior like we can with crouch (click or hold)? How many layouts will there be? Will they be based off of layouts from previous games? Will I be able to go back and forth between Halo 4 and previous titles with ease? –JDHarbs19

Here at 343, we’re committed to ensuring that control schemes are pre-set for the player. Until custom options become a staple in CoD we will continue to decide for you. We gave you a riot shield and kill streaks. What else do you want?!?

Will the armor you wear in multiplayer affect your gameplay, or will it be completely cosmetic? –MobiusBlue121

Yes, but no. It never did, but in swat it did, and everything else.

What are the exact kill times of the DMR, Carbine, and BR? –Unsaf3st

Shorter than than the AR, but don’t give up hope. With every installment of Halo we are looking to sway that balance of weapons. My hope is to have rocket starts in all playlists except Snipers by Halo 6. Scratch that, Snipers included, with a laser as a secondary.

Will the medals remain as they are now, or will they be changed to the original Halo medal color style? –TBearrr

I’m glad you asked, but I’d prefer to discuss my idea of placing all medals in the middle of the screen upon receiving them…

How exactly will the custom loadouts be balanced, as well as the upgrades received by ordnance? Is there anything to prevent veteran players from spawning with rocket launchers and shotguns and outright dominating everybody else, or will power weapons be limited in some way? –Retr0Gamer64

I don’t know how to answer this… go play the game we based this one on and figure out who has the chopper gunner. Once again though, by Halo 6, I hope to have created a system to reward negative players with powers ups for Death Frenzies. I’m waiting for Infinity Ward to pave the road on this one.

How similar is the Thrustpack ability to Reach’s Evade? Can it be used in all directions? How many times can it be used before being depleted? –Nuclear Taco 42

Sounds like you were a big time armor lock user and realized how futile your ability was… -Yoink- deals… -Yoink- deals.

We saw Frankie rank up to A-7 in a video clip. Is that just some random placeholder, or is that hinting at a new type of ranking system? –Degeneratlon

You can assume that we truly wish to “degenerate” the ranking system, no pun intended with your name. From Halo 3 to Reach we wanted to remove the skill from rank, but even if Reach, you still had to earn it somewhat. We want that gone.

Will Bumper Jumper be changed to LT to Grenade, or will another button layout based on the “Halo 3/Halo: Reach” Bumper Jumper be made for Halo 4? –coca mola

As this question concerns skill players, it’s very important that I don’t answer it while also leaving hints that they could get screwed over. You know what, -Yoink- it. The bumpers are being replaced with sprint and your armor abilities while Reach grenades will be taking the place of the right trigger and kill streaks to the left trigger.

In both impressions and gameplay footage, some players seem to be lowering their aim sensitivity. Has the overall look mechanic speed been increased? i.e. the new 10 is faster than the old 10? insert it goes to 11 joke –Wyld3 KNFr

It’s the same. Those people just got a little arrogant when they thought their aim got better with Reach. They soon figured out that the turtle speed setting had been changed.

Will Halo 4 have a little more cowbell? –Coux73

Once again, I’m glad we’re asking and answering these questions and not discussing important things like rank, and not being another Reach.

I noticed that friendly fire was off during the E3 demo. Was that solely to stop people from ruining the fun for others in the demo, or will it remain off in the default game types once the full game hits? –Loscocco

This isn’t Halo, ya fool.

Will the ordnance drops always guarantee a weapon and power-up, or will the drops be completely random when earned? –Solis Argentum

This makes me want to go play MW3. I’ll answer your question after a few games.

How does the Join In Progress feature work in Halo 4 multiplayer? If we join in during the game, will everyone’s screen go black? Or will the game stop in any way to compensate the change? Are there certain restrictions as to how the new feature works? At what point in the game do we enter in? Beginning? Middle? Or the end? –CypressSmurf

I’m starting to feel bad for the people buying this game.

I feel the same way …

Why does everything get linkted to CoD? There were games before it that had its ideas. People are so ignorant of games that came out before CoD. It’s like they think coD was the first game ever, and that’s where Halo is getting all its ideas.

Haha. Yeah, yeah, we get it. Halo 4 = CoD. How about a constructive post?
