Frankies advice to people unsure about Halo 4

Frankie gives his advice to people who are uncertain about some of the features that are being changed/included in Halo 4.

It’s short, but it’s sweet.

-Thoughts?

The most sensible response possible.

He makes sense. You can’t say a food sucks just by looking at it. Nor can you say that a book sucks just by looking at the cover, despite hundreds of people saying the book was awesome.

I’ve been trying to tell people this forever. Don’t be so quick to judge, just try it and if you don’t like it fair enough.

I agree with him completely. I am tired of looking here on the forums and other forums and see the way people are talking down about this game without even playing it. There are hundreds of people pouring their heart and soul into this game and I for one feel the very least someone could do is try it out before condemning it and 343 to hell

Sure you can, Twilight being the prime example.

Pretty sound advice if you ask me.
Any doubts anyone has will vanish upon getting there hands upon it.

Halo 4 is beautiful. Trust me.

Not true. You had to know what Twilight was about before you knew it was trash.

Well of course. It’s been ingrained in our genetic memories that Twilight sucks hard. The word twilight has now become synonymous with terrible quality.

But everyone knows the book sucks. Not so with Halo 4. The opposite in fact.

I know, I know, I simply kid.

This guy gets it. Before Twilight came out it, could have been the best novel of all time (no one would have known beforehand ( its still trash tho)) . Wait until something comes out before you get out the bashing stick.

While his comments certainly increase my excitement, neither his nor anyone else’s opinion is going to stop me from buying this game.

So basically his comments are “We changed things, wait and play it”. This doesn’t really ease my worries at all.

All I heard was what I get told on this forum every day “YOU HAVEN’T PLAYED IT SO YOU HAVE NO IDEA DURR!”…

This didn’t address the issues in the slightest, infact it actually lowered my expectations because even Frankie has no desire to address the issues that so many of us are making in this forum and all over the internet.

I have heard the views of people who have played it, and this one is the one I will listen to the most out of those who have answered questions on it, because he is an extremely experienced player:

http://www.haloforum.eu/topic/3254-ive-just-got-back-from-the-halo-4-launch-party-in-manchester-ask-me-anything/

Few points to notice:
“Sprint felt cheap and easy to abuse to escape.”
“Perks / Abilities which give you vision through walls are not competitive or welcome.”
“Will we be relying on forge again?” - “Yes.”
“How were the armor permutations?” - “They were lame… not impressed at all. Holograms, Vision Jetpacks all lame and gimmicky.”
“Rating out of 10?” - “7 out of 10 from what I played”
“The maps didn’t fill me with confidence”

How about actually addressing the issues next time instead of just brushing them under the rug and telling us to give it all a chance just to get us to buy the game?

I think what he’s trying to say that 343 is aware that they are doing “controversial” (to some) changes and that critics should reserve judgement until they have first hand experience with the game and possibly understand why 343 made some of the changes they did.

People have to remember that they’re Halo fans just as much as we are and the last thing they would want to do is make a bad Halo game.

Translation:

Give us your money, then you can say what you want about our game because we already have your money.

Correction:

They are employees of Microsoft, their main goal is to make money, the quality of the game comes second.

Not everyone is going to like the game. This is one case of that. Ask 9 out of 10 other PAX goers though including MLG (Who are ALSO experienced gamers)and they loved the game. You can’t make a judgement of one fan’s opinion when the majority of others disagree.

After watching the ViDocs (Including A Hero Awakens) how could you possibly think that 343 is more concerned about money instead of quality after they have taken so much time and effort to pay attention to lore, detail, and the overall look of the game? After all, everyone at 343 has one thing in common. They all love Halo.

When did we judge Halo 4 by it’s cover art Franky?

We judged according to information you gave us about the game mechanics.

The game box doesnt say anything about flag drop.

And you realize Franky also said this

Will there be an option to turn off the white text notifications in the middle of the screen? -The Yanix

Franky’s response…

No, but the fact is that it “vanishes” after a few plays. Ask people who’ve played a lot. This is something we spent a lot of time on and is true of many “intrusive” UI, audio and dressing aspects of the game – they provide vital information for certain types of players and quickly vanish for frequent players in terms of intrusion. They were designed, tested and tweaked to achieve this. Watching other people play is almost counter to how it feels in practice.

Really Franky, you tested it? Thanks bro
