Some of you have seen this. Yet I have yet to hear people talk about the small part about “Gravemind”
Frankie says (un-direct quote) that they can be as small and simple as the Proto-Gravemind to the Gravemind we all know YET he says there’s some other type of Gravemind, most likely more advanced then the one we all know of.
Does anyone realize how pretty much terrifying that idea is. The Gravemind already has powers and intelligence so far unmatched. Has untold abilities to command troops around an entire galaxy with no known use of artificial technology, can lay waste to entire species and worlds.
Yet there is the possiblity of an even more powerful Gravemind -__-
I’m making a Bet. The Gravemind will become more advanced, or a more advanced one in general will be the main “Boss” of the next trilogy. The Flood have never been stopped before and what ever other enemy that shows up will simply be food to them. The Flood have to be stopped. Somehow.

A few people also have a theory that the precursors or the last precursor controls the gravemind on behalf of it’s intelligence which is remarkable for it’s flood nature and stature and motives. It is highly likely that the flood and the precursors will exsist together sometime in the trilogy considering the covenant won’t be the main enemy and in the concept art the forerunner space ships are non hostile to the UNSC as they themselves in the concept art were just stading and watching almost as if they were getting ready for battle. Look up the concept art, you will see
I’m guessing the Super Gravemind is what the Forerunners were facing. A Gravemind so big and powerfull it could actually take on armies on it’s own…and win. A Gravemind so big, and so…“complete” it was actually controlling all Flood. The Graveminds we’ve seen were either in Proto state (Wars/CE(A)) or in regular Gravemind state. And the Gravemind we’ve fought seemed to only control his particular army of Flood. Surely he must have been around at the time of Wars and CE(A) but he seems to be quite unaware of those events for some reason.
I imagine a Super Gravemind would have consumed/integrated all Proto-Graveminds and regular Graveminds into itself and with that has all the knowledge the Flood has “found” and making it the single brain and General behind the entire Flood (instead of just that of a single “faction” of Flood like “Gravemind” was over the Delta Halo “faction”)
I haven’t fully sold myself on this theory, but I think in the beginning, the flood parasite was just a simple parasite that, when left untreated, killed its host and allowed the parasite to change into its true form, basically the Halo universe version of the Cordyceps fungus, which exists in the real world and is quite freaky.
I’m starting to think that it wasn’t until the simple Flood parasite encountered the Precursors that they became something more insidious, allowing for the Flood to amass and become a Gravemind. I need to go back and read Cryptum again and get my facts straight, but I’m thinking we’re going to find out that the Precursors are the catalyst for the Flood evolving from a simple parasite to the force encountered in the Flood-Forerunner war and then again in the Human-Covenant war.
